I keep deleting my posts before I post them!

Today, I seem to be suffering from "I shouldn't really say that"...and deleting my comments before I get around to submitting them. Do you ever suffer from this sort of dilemma? Should one publish and be damned?

I abort posts more because I think they might be redundant than because they might be offensive. Of course I can delete my posts after I post them, which helps.

Well, why not? a) I'm slow to take offence.
b) If you take issue with someone, I believe you can respect someone while disagreeing with them. I learn a lot from getting my prejudices shaken up by certain ILErs.
c) If you're going to insult someone, well, I think most insults reflect worse on the insulter than the person being insulted.
Of course, it all depends on what you're going to say...!

I should clarify, that the things I don't post are not insults...just kinda lame or badly written.

You're alright, James! Don't worry about it! Throw it in the pot like the rest of us!

I know the feeling James. I always get terrified joining new message boards. I end up reading them avidly and not posting much as everyone seems to know one another. Okay, I can go through with this ... press .... submit ... deep breath...

sounds familiar james. if you like we can put a key-tracker on your keyboard and publish ther results? hmmmm

Despite being so new, yeah I abort some. I think it's often because the threads twist and multiply and mutate so quickly; want to do justice to what other people have said but hard to keep track. I think very responsively - few set positions, few consistent thoughts (??) - and usually as I'm speaking/writing - and very often find myself in a place that's either way off topic, or just pointlessly meandering or redundantly reitering other peoples' stuff.

I started to begin a thread several times yesterday, and then changed my mind.

Guilty.

I almost always say whatever comes into my mind. If I acted otherwise, my number of posts and amount of blatant stupidity would both decrease (perhaps to nil).
