Basically, the dunnock is a small, unregarded, once common bird indigenous to Britain. It's hard to distinguish from many other species of small, garden dwelling birds. Its plumage is drab, it feeds on insects. It's small and grey. Its population is also in terminal decline. Nobody will miss the Dunnock, hardly anyone ever notiiced it was there in the first place. This depresses me immensely, for reasons I have yet to fully understand. I call on ILX to adopt the Dunnock as its mascot. Nobody else cares.
