I'm sure my ex-g.f. is still taking in every man she meets. I think her number can be found on any Metro bathroom wall.

ahhh, venting like that felt good.

My wife and I stayed once at Hotel Manoir des Alpes, on St. Andre just off of Ste. Catherine. It is pretty nice and not too expensive, good location. Breakfast is included in the room price.

I stayed at a really nice bed and breakfast and it was really cheap. I have no idea of the name though. I lthink it was yellow.

The Hotel St. Andre was very nice for the price, and close to St Catherine. I guess a lot of this depends on one's definition of cheap (i.e. there are decent hostels too).

I stayed at this place last June, it was great and cheap. Walking distance to St Denis / St Laurent.

I stayed somewhere cheap and cheerful in that frenchie bit of town, it was nice. No, I can't remember the hotel or the street, but it was near a park that had a lot of squirrels in it.

Hi there -- so! I'm covered for my first night in Montreal in a couple of weeks but for my second night I'd like to see about a spot with easy access to the central train station as I'll be leaving there at around 9:30 on a Monday morning. I really don't need anything fancy per se -- just good transit access, though a nice spot to get breakfast nearby couldn't hurt. Any thoughts? I've already checked a number of promising recommendations but in most cases the rooms were already booked.

UQAM residences: 50 a night, takes 20 minutes to walk there from the train station.

That looks sharp but it's already booked up for when I'll be there!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 17:58 (thirteen years ago) link

XXpost: Yeah. I just got back from staying there yesterday.

And the rooms are nice and all, especially if you get the preferable St Laurent-Sherbrooke location, the building of which is quite nice, and if nothing else, also really well located. Also, you have access to a full kitchen.

ya that's not a bad option at all

Cool -- is there an obvious spot on their page for booking/confirming availability?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 18:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Rock. Can't tell offhand whether east or west is the St. Laurent one EDB mentioned, though!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh wait never mind I see Sherbrooke there on the map now.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 June 2010 18:11 (thirteen years ago) link

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Tuesday, 8 June 2010 18:12 (thirteen years ago) link
