it's a good thing robin williams was the priest too, it kinda prepares her for the general wackiness of marriage ceremonies and the entire crash course they put you through in order to allow you to be married. i hope ryan adams can handle it, not having been in a film let alone a film about or featuring weddings.

A typical indie kid vicar? Find me some fucking typical indie kids who like alternative country and I'll make you very rich. It said Ryan Adams not Bryan Adams, theres a difference. I see you live in Ireland too, have you any idea how fucking difficult it is to even buy a Whiskeytown cd here? I had to spend 30 quid on one fucking Will Oldham CD, and I've paid that for Spacemen 3 stuff aswell, its certainly worth it but christ if thats what everyone else is doing then I must be living under a rock or something, I don't care about liking weird stuff for the sake of it being weird, I just want to find some people who like the same stuff that I get on with, given the points I made about the bands above its pretty unlikely without the internet.

her new single is k-boring and badly written. everything she does in public, including her facial expressions in interviews, her gestures while performing, etc., seems so painfully deliberate. i have no idea why that is. over-trained as a child star? hovering precariously over an abyss of dread and indecision? anyway, i'm always disappointed when her music turns out to be totally mediocre. i want her to be better. why? probably because she's k-cute.

if you watch both versions you will see how her psuedo-spontaneous gestures (not even dancing really, just little turns, hand movements, etc.) seem worked out to the centimeter.

More than 10 years ago, a slew of young stars hit the pop charts. Although the queen bees were Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, back then, Mandy Moore held her own with hits like "Candy" and "I Wanna Be With You."

With Spears and Aguilera continually reinventing themselves but staying true to what Moore considers their "formula," the singer/actress has moved on with a throwback to a " '70s sort of Southern California pop sound" on her new album, Amanda Leigh.

"I kind of always knew we would all differentiate ourselves from one another," she told MTV News. "Musically, they've stuck to a formula that works for them and, obviously, has always proven successful. I don't think I found that same success singing music that really, at the end of the day, I wasn't happy singing."

But Moore said she wasn't trying to prove anything by jumping off that bandwagon. "It wasn't a bold gesture to try and show that I was an adult," she explained. "I sort of have taken my baby steps to get to where I am today. I feel comfortable singing the music that I'm singing, because it's coming from me, finally."

In fact, Moore helped write all the music on Amanda Leigh, making the album in Boston to stay away from the distractions of her life in New York and Los Angeles. "It's the record I've always wanted to make," she said of the LP, which debuted at #25 on the Billboard albums chart this week. "And I'm excited for people to hear it. It's sort of got a tinge of all the artists that I love and listen to on a consistent basis."

The album — which she said was inspired by Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell and "maybe even a little McCartney" — was recorded on vintage equipment and with Moore's more mature view of life. Partly thanks to her marriage to rocker Ryan Adams, it is a far cry from the music and themes she sang about back in the day.

"I think I have a lot more information now, be it life experience, discovering new music. ... I know what I'm singing about now," she said. "Everything is really personal now, whereas before, I had no connection to it. It's deeper now. It's a bit more organic, because it's what I want to say."

Marrying Ryan Adams != a more mature view of life.

I’ve read recently where you say you listen to Fleet Foxes, and you listen to Paul McCartney, CSNY…those are some great bands and songwriters. And Mandy Moore listens to them?

Oh yeah! I’m a big fan of some unbelievable musicians, I think. Like Joni Mitchell and McCartney…and then I’m also really lucky to have some really incredible…I don’t know if you would call them ‘musical tastemakers.’ (laughs) People in my life—I have some great musical friends who have great musical tastes, and over the years I have just been introduced to tons of stuff that have led to my own investigations. It led me to make that record Coverage…I was 18 or 17…and was like, ‘I don’t think any of my friends know about XTC or The Waterboys!’ So, I like doing my own investigations, too.

Isn’t it weird how that happens?

Well, I’m sure you’ve heard a lot more than I have, though! But, I have fun finding new music. It’s cool to find something and fall in love with it and to be able to introduce it to your friends. It’s the best!
