Theres a Finnish engineering company called Rape-Plan. "Rape" isn't a Finnish word, so I think it must be an acronym for something... Possibly something to do with "RAkenne" (= "structure"), because they specialize in structural engineering. But if you're going have the second part of your company name in English, maybe you ought to find out what the first part actually means in that language.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 11:14 (eighteen years ago)

Apparently the Finnish city of Tampere also had a program for protecting their "RAkennusPErintö" (= "building heritage") called RAPE 2004!!

Off-topic, but I am always delighted when I get a parcel wrapped in Finnish packaging labelled Pussikeskus Oy.

a passing spacecadet, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 11:20 (eighteen years ago)

I think most Finns understand English well enough to know what "rape" means, so even if the target audience or customers for these are Finnish speakers, they'd still sound stupid to them.
