True tbh, but they've got it bad enough already with trump etc. I'm hopeful Europeans are still capable or ruining things.

I voted Russian hackers, although the pending Trump administration should have topped the list.

Faced with several scandals in Rome, where Mr Grillo’s party holds the mayor’s office, the firebrand, anti-establishment politician has taken followers by surprise by demanding that half a million irregular migrants be expelled from the country after it emerged that Anis Amri, the Berlin lorry attacker shot dead in Milan, had entered Italy illegally from Tunisia in 2011.

I've seen quite a bit of coverage describing this as a real shift in Grillo's rhetoric, though some ppl are also suggesting that it's not totally unprecedented for him and is just getting more attention now because of the increased possibility of an early election in Italy + Trump + general rise of far right around Europe?

what was Grillo's image before he got involved in politics? what comedian would be his nearest anglophone equivalent (or does he not really have one)?

I'm really going to enjoy Europe's elite club managers/oligarch owners bellyaching about Chinese clubs beating them at their own game 😭

There has never been a British Tabloid Editor who has failed to make the world a worse place or not deserve to die.

Surprised Marie Le Pen isn't on the list!

Frobisher, Sunday, 8 January 2017 00:25 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, their list of xenophobic populists vying to be heads of state is weirdly incomplete.

Dr. Shitfuck (Old Lunch), Sunday, 8 January 2017 00:37 (seven years ago) link

Cba clicking but what's the rationale for including Sarko in there over Le Pen?
