For a variety of long, boring reasons that I won't go into here, we have been fostering our neighbors' pregnant cat (this is her third litter in the last 18 months), and last Monday -- the day before election day -- she gave birth to a litter of four. Here they are just a couple of hours after birth:

And here they are this morning at the tender age of 11 days:

They just opened their eyes yesterday, which is right on schedule, and they're all healthily nursing pretty much constantly. We have plans to have them all adopted out, get the mother spayed then return her to the neighbors. More pics as they come!

So this morning the mom (whose name in English is "Gorgeous," but who also has a Russian name I can't transliterate or pronounce) picked up the kittens and moved them out of the birthing box and over to a cat bed on the other side of the room. Unfortunately it's a little on the small side, but they're going to be walking well soon so it hardly matters.

So I never really updated this much after the Trump-pocalypse happened, but these dudes just celebrated their 8-week birthday and are getting adopted out soon. They've been to the vet and had all their first tests done -- they were de-wormed, got their first respiratory vaccines, and were confirmed FIV and FeLV negative. They go back for their second vaccines on 1/9 then out to their new homes.
This is Rogue and Storm:
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15780676_10154483428398800_3215527663646232211_n.jpg?oh=c3d0a4a6b9f36b14f9897afc293d0df7&oe=58EBA24D
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15672742_10154483428423800_8486427286701443047_n.jpg?oh=fbcda5f84b5a31ca2de63716c721c765&oe=58E0EF85
They are going as a brother/sister pair to an older (early 50s) married couple who are friends of ours. They've been over to play with them a couple of times and can't wait to get them home. Rogue is a playing machine, constantly running, hopping and throwing toys around the room. Storm can play hard as well, but she also loves to climb into laps and go to sleep.
This is Beast:
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15822908_10154473057628800_6202653848035182102_n.jpg?oh=18597775cd594280083ffdc416679bb2&oe=5922DD46
He's going to a younger friend of mine who lives by herself aside from her little dog, Oliver, who she says has been around cats and kittens his whole life. He's a tiny little Bichon, so shouldn't have any problems. Beast is very good at playing by himself even when the other kittens are sleeping, and is the biggest of the four -- he was 1 lb. 10 oz. at his first vet visit.
And this is little Speedy, the smallest of the four:
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15823221_10154479133073800_5176339814327969682_n.jpg?oh=adb10f42193aed66e3ccb9dada3015ba&oe=58E8AB36
She's an adventurer -- here, she had just figured out how to climb a bookcase and jump onto the top of a dress dummy. She doesn't appear to be afraid of anything and will leap at toys twice her size. But she's also going to be a lap cat:
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15826886_10154483429983800_9156765069358629222_n.jpg?oh=fa2f159d497200517e72f5e5da5e2d0b&oe=591E55DC
We had a home ready for her, a woman who was going to get her daughter her first pet, but apparently they went to a pet store that had a rescue there that day, and the girl fell in love with a kitten that she was able to hold right there in her hands. We've reached out to some other people, but for now she's going to stay with us.

This thing is like far and away the best cat toy we have ever bought. These four all go crazy for it. They'll sit there for ten minutes at a time just spinning the balls around, which for a kitten is eternity.

Today of all days we need this thread. As of today, all but one of the kittens were adopted out; while the mother was spayed and returned to her original family.
Here are Rogue & Storm, the brother/sister that went as a pair, sleeping in their new person's lap:
