Reassuringly / disturbingly the amount of gamma radiation you're exposed to being that close to the reactor is about half the amount you'd get on a plane.

Someone said "it's not bragging if it's the truth." Criminy christmas, you must have burned up 25,000 calories and every drop of glycogen in you body. I wouldn't fall asleep after that kind of a run; I'd drop dead.

My wife's a massive help, no doubt! My kids were awesome training partners on their bikes too. Seriously Carl, if you want some peace and quiet, buy a baby jogger and send Jeff off on a lap of the lake. Aimless: I was tinkering with some route-plotting software and that reckons I used about 12,000 calories, which bears out the fact that it was as much of an eating competition as anything else. There was definitely a delicate balance in how much I could take on board before my guts started rebelling though - I went way over the top at the start with flapjacks and stuff, and then I could only really stomach orange Fanta and a few crisps during the last sixteen hours or whatever it was. Have made up for it afterwards though, people keep sending me cakes!

thanks! that's my son, William. The mask came from Amazon, but the outfit was a red morph suit with silver fabric paint added and a light glued to his chest. He really loves this costume and has taken several different opportunities to put it on and run around like a maniac.
