Especially because my morning newspaper arrives, and it's the ILX EDITION -- you know, how some major metropolitan areas have special regional editions for if you're in the suburbs or the city -- and the front page is all about the Olympics. And there's two separate articles about relatives of Chuck Eddy. In one, his mom is interviewed about how excited she is about the Olympics. Another is about his brother, who's like a referee or something.
Later, back at the baseball game, Teeny has set up her sleeping bag on the field, which has now shrunk to the size of a bedroom. Chris V has to tell her that she should probably move to the next room over, since there's a game going on and she'll get hit. (Although when she gets up she looks less like Teeny and more like Maria Tessa Sciarrino.)

Anyway, after a couple of minutes listening to her unselfconsciously warbling away, I thought I'd better make my presence known. So I got up, picked up a couple of dirty plates and walked towards the door. Suddenly she spins round, terrified, and brandishes a pearl-handled revolver at me, screaming "what the fuck are you doing here?!".
I woke up at this point.

I've never been to NYC so I'd be interested if this rings any bells for anyone who has been/who lives there...

Not knowing what Dave Q looks like, he was represented by a crown set atop a copy of A Night at the Opera, in a bit of "Doonesbury"-esque surrealism.

But the teacher, who happened to be my senior Biology teacher in real life, thought that Sarah was wrong about me and gave me the entry test anyway, which wasn't just a test, it was a test and an interview and I had to give references -- references from people who would say I'd be really good at biology, I guess. Anyway, I got in and then Sarah and I were friends again, though I was still a little mad at her.

The next night I had a dream that I lost my right arm (I'm left-handed) and again, I wasn't too miffed, only saying (in the dream) that I "never used that one much anyway".
I wonder what the hell that all means.

For some reason someone was looking in my ear, I was really embarassed and remarked, "oh it's prbably full of earwax" and they said "no, it's something else" and proceeded to pull out some large congealed bit of blood plasma. Ewwwwwwwww

I once dreamed I was sitting on the adge of Beck's bed discussing his new album. He asked me what I thought and I told him it was shit. Then he got all maudlin.

It was school science project time and stevem and I had teamed up to build a robot (that looked suspiciously like one of the two-legged walkers in Star Wars) in some kind of box-shaped diorama. Our robot was pretty cool and we were pretty confident of winning.
So we set off to school along the Thames in a tiny boat. Soon though Caitlin pulled alongside us in a boat powered (incredibly quickly) by nothing more than rubber bands. There was no doubt that Caitlin would beat us in the science competition, but to make sure, she torpedoed us with her fast boat, leaving us floudering in the water as our robot/diorama got chewed up by a nearby hydroelectric dam.
What could it mean?

1. I had a drink with John McLaughlin of the Mahavishnu Orchestra (so this is more of an ILM dream than an ILX dream)
2. Me and my brother went to see the premier performance of John's new piece - which was about Ruth Ellis (you know, the last woman to be hanged in Britain) but was entitled "June Walter Ellis".
3. The performance took place in a shop with the "musicians" sitting behind counters.
4. They did a version of "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand, another song was written by... Brian Auger!
5. As the last piece of music started, a spotty bespectacled nerd stood up in front of the stage/counter and started offering a critique of the night's performance - saying it was regrettable Mr. McLaughlin was not playing "more notes" and, bemoaning the fact that he was no longer playing "skinhead funk", stated, "Playing six notes endlessly - no matter how well played - is not sufficient." (maybe it was Geir?)
6. Part of the performance involved Madonna getting her head shaved.
7. The music consisted of really powerful and melodic feedback drones which "John McLaughlin" was controlling by means of pedals. He did not have a guitar.
8. The rest of the music was coming from a device which was being attended to by several earnest young men - this device, frankly, was a laser printer.
9. I said to my brother, "Can you guess what age he is?" My brother said "34", but it was obvious he was referring to a piece of musical equipment and not to John McLaughlin.

rosemary and i were comparing our matching costume-jewelry rings that we got at some tween store in the mall
miccio borrowed a couple of tapes of russian trad-folk songs from me so he could make copies
ally wanted to know why i always said "beautiful" in a sarcastic voice whenever something bad happened (i made up some multisyllabic german word to describe the phenomenon)
(and karen o was at the party too. she couldn't find her shoes and she was yelling at me because she thought they were under a pile of books i left on the floor.)
