I'm sorry I said that about competing - I have been loving the pics on here without feeling the need to rank them. I mean, if I'd thought this was a sex appeal contest, this depressed and insecure 45 year old certainly wouldn't have joined in. I love it not just for the hotness, but there is also something intimate in a friendly way in posting these pics, for me, and I value that very highly.

Thanks, Roxy - I thought people would just point and laugh when I said that, but it is very much how I feel about this. It was part of what I was getting at when I said how much more it meant when the pics are of someone I know, to some degree or another - I mean, part of it is that Ally's pic, for instance, is hotter than some random equally sexy topless woman because I've known her here for three years, we've exchanged a few emails and talked on AIM, and even met once. But it is also that these pics feel like a community being trusting with each other. I mean, we know this is a public board, but I think we are posting for each other, not for everyone in the world.

I don't think anyone should feel obliged to post their pictures here, but if someone feels like doing it, she/he shouldn't back down because he/she thinks people will laugh or tell her/him to fuck off. Yeah well I figure I don't spend five hours a week at the gym just to be coy about it. Also I go swimming dressed like that in public places, so it's not exactly a massive leap.

Steve, are you saying you feel guilty for being aroused by pics of people you know? That seems natural to me - I ALWAYS find people I like sexier through knowing and liking them, and when that is added to pics here that anyone would find sexy without a clue who the person is, it all builds up together. I'm not going to feel guilty about that - I can't imagine that anyone who posts a pic of themselves in their underwear is going to be disappointed at getting that reaction. I'd be pleased if I could imagine anyone being aroused by me, and ten times as pleased if it were someone I knew and liked.

That swimming point is a good one - why is there a difference between ordinary swimming outfits and underwear? It's all in the connotations, isn't it? That the latter is not generally revealed? I mean, there isn't much distinction between some of the outfits here and a swimming costume.
