I saw this ad on the subway today for a hospital with new, roomier MRI machines. It showed a big man about to go into it with his hands behind his head, straight relaxin'. It said they can accomodate people up to 550 pounds.

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Fatties be MRIin'

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:45 (sixteen years ago) link

I had a big milestone this morning: this was the first time I have ever fallen asleep oin the train and missed my stop on the way to work. Awesome!

kenan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I woke up at Randolph. I get off at Clark and Division. I got a good extra 15 minutes of sleep in there.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Better Randolph than Chinatown.

Eazy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link

lucky that you actually get to sit down on the train in the morning!

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:58 (sixteen years ago) link

The trains have been really empty the past couple of days. Maybe I'm just lucky. But even on a regular day, you can usually get a seat if you are getting on north of Sheridan.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:00 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah, I get a seat more often than not. North siders represent what? The butt.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I get a seat maybe half the time when I first get on the train, but if I don't, I'm usually able to score one at Belmont, when riders switch to the Red Line.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Also that Chic-A-G0-G0 video was rad!

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

i've told you about the time i left the h0liday club at 2 in the morning and got back to my house at 7 because i kept "falling asleep" on the train, right?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Why is "falling asleep" in quotes? Were you actually not falling asleep, but giving the treatment to Rebecca De Mornay, Risky Business stylee?

kenan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:07 (sixteen years ago) link

can someone tell me about this holiday train? it's supposed to be on the blue line today. i don't want to miss out!

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link

"falling asleep" after being at the h0liday club for four hours with a bartender who doesn't charge me.

holiday train has a couple cars done up in lights with hoiday ornamentation on and in them. usually accompanied by screaming kids. i got caught on it on the green line once a couple years ago, i try to avoid it.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

It went past the Clark/Lake elevated platform while I was waiting for the Orange line the other day, but it didn't stop. I don't really know anything about it, other than it looked pretty funny with no-one but an operator on it.

dan m, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Ben Tausig's puzzle here is really good.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm guessing that's the same as his Reader puzzle, in which case I'm going to save it for the el this evening.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link

The holiday train is fine. But the Blessed Train is the BEST train.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 17:19 (sixteen years ago) link

I joined the Y yesterday. I'm a little apprehensive 'cause it was totally crowded and cramped in the gym afterwork, but my last gym was run by Xtian fundamentalists folks, so at least I'm not supporting evil.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Also it's way cheaper.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link

but my last gym was run by Xtian fundamentalists folks, so at least I'm not supporting evil.

what does the c in ymca stand for again?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, but it's not so Christian these days, right? They probably wouldn't refuse to support an AIDs walk?

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Jordan, there's no need to feel down.
I say, Jordan, pick yourself off the ground.

Eazy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Jordan, are you listening to me?
I said, Jordan, what do you want to be
I said, Jordan, you can make real your dreams,
but you've got to know this one thing.

No man, does it all by himself
I said, Jordan, put your pride on the shelf
And just go there, to the Y.M.C.A.
I'm sure they can help you today

Eazy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:21 (sixteen years ago) link

LOLghter.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Quiet up in hurr.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link

lol @ ymca

i'm going to a corny-looking chain fondue restaurant tonight!

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link

y'all gon' make me lose my mind, up in hurr, up in hurr

y'all gon' make me go all out, up in hurr, up in hurr

i couldn't think what song that was at first, but finally i remembered it was DMX - Party Up

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:06 (sixteen years ago) link

It went past the Clark/Lake elevated platform

I WORK RIGHT THERE IN THAT BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I've never seen the holiday train and this makes me sad.

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:13 (sixteen years ago) link

WERE YOU WORKING ON WEDNESDAY MORNING LAST WEEK BECUZ I WAS TOTALLY RIGHT THERE OUTSIDE??!?!?!?!?!?!

dan m, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:14 (sixteen years ago) link

YES. Well, as of 8:30 I was.

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:15 (sixteen years ago) link

I see the holiday train a lot. I have seen one at least 4 times in 3 years.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:15 (sixteen years ago) link

i want to see it but i guess it doesn't make sense to have it running during the rush hour if there's going to be a bunch of screaming kids on it.

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:15 (sixteen years ago) link

This building has everything. A train station, a Taco Bell, a Dress Barn... EVERYTHING.

xp Jesse stole all my holiday train views. Selfish.

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:16 (sixteen years ago) link

In 2005, the Holiday Train derailed.

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I keep forgetting that you work in that building, Jenny. We're like two blocks away from each other. Lunch at Cosi sometime?

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost ahahahahaha

dan m, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

does anyone work near adams and wells?

stingy, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Yes, John, that would be lovely. Why don't I send you my workplace contact information and then you can contact me at my workplace with regard to lunch at Cosi sometime. They have a tasty cobb salad, although it's not really a cobb salad since it's lacking eggs and something else that I can't remember.
