pock•et pro•tec•tor - - [pok-it] [pruh-tek-ter]
–noun, band
1.) A creative unit developed to carry writing instruments and other implements, while reinforcing the strength of the pocket in a sound manner.
2.) A band derived from various earlier musical endeavors (see Written Prisms, hip:jazz:funk & Mark Hopkins Band, renegade pop-rock) brought together by a shared passion for musical exploration and improvisation, and a reverence for the power of the groove [see pocket].
3.) Something for the true lover of music.
4.) A must for any and all nerds, music and otherwise.

Ugh "groove protector" sounds pretty grossly self-congratulatory. IN SOVIET RUSSIA GROOVE PROTECTS YOU.

BARTRP I was just going to say, "that guy's MARRIED?"

Laurel, Monday, 9 April 2007 15:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Dudes, if that guy can get married, we can all get at least a couple of dates a month. I mean, right?

Laurel, Monday, 9 April 2007 15:40 (seventeen years ago) link

i dunno, to me it's kinda reinforcing the conviction that i'll die alone

i think the only thing that could possibly improve this festering hellhole of a life i've got going on right now is if a member of POCKET PROTECTOR - band - pocket protector maryland band - jazz/funk - ram's head savage mill april 7 - were to find this thread, and maybe contribute.

do you hear me, Larry Byrne (keys, guitar, baritone sax); Ryan LaHam (bass); Marty Bouchard (drums); Matt Dalton (tenor & alto sax); Mark Hopkins (vocals, guitar, keys): Jay Crawdads (vocals, percussion)?????

The airport is so much better with gin and elderflower and a cheeseburger.

I wonder if they can make a flask for the plane or will I be begging a stern faced nordic stewardess for just one more korsenkorva vinha. (Please let this not have gone pay for booze on this run)

Ed, Monday, 9 April 2007 16:01 (seventeen years ago) link

The first Killers album was actually quite nice. Sort of a cross-in-between postpunk and New Romanics, like Magazine or something. I don't like this Bruce Springsteen thing about their most recent one though.

pretzel walrus, Monday, 9 April 2007 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link

i don't even believe that is actually the geir hongro anymore, i refuse to believe that some insane norwegian robot has spent the past 12 years of his life sitting on the internet incessantly propping paul mccartney. it's just too sad to actually believe in.

beartrap ok that's just made up.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 9 April 2007 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link
