yeah staggering amount of detail there compared to ones average dream

Michael B, Friday, 10 September 2004 13:41 (nineteen years ago) link

I know it sounds dubious and I never ever ever remember dreams but it was about 9 o clock yesterday morning.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 10 September 2004 13:50 (nineteen years ago) link

This is unrelated to ilx, but last night I had a dream where (in one part - and surprisingly this was the most normal part) I was somehow involved in the production of a trading spaces/changing rooms type of tv show - except the house I was in was a big stone mansion, and the family was the pretty much the Addams family. Morticia was NOT into the fabric the desginer had chosen. I think I was just there to find something though.

I think I dreamt about Mandee the other day? I believe she dyed her hair. I don't remember anything else.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I have never met the Pinefox, once watched him walk across a room, but nonetheless...I dreamt last night that he had been practicing some incredibly advanced martial art and kept asking me to feel his biceps. And he had an amazing tan.

I had a crazy dream yesterday, it was ridiculous. I dreamt I was in Trinity College in Dublin and I met Rob B and Colette, and Rob was telling me he was preparing for an exam where he had to talk about TAXATION (???) but he was ok because the lecturer was actually from the same town as Colette.
At the time however, in the dream, I didn't care because I had just been informed that I'd broken up with a girl I'm not going out with. She was furious and quite cutting on the phone, it was scary. She then sent me a text which read, and this is seriously weird, "step one, find cup, step two, add coffee, step three, take our relationship to the PURGERATOR".

I swear this is the most fucked up dream I've ever had, I guess the medicine I'm on at the moment is kind of crazy.

I woke up and was quite glad to find myself still on good terms with the girl in question.

-- Ronan

From now on Ronan, if anyone disses me, I'm taking them atraight to the PURGERATOR.

As an afterthought, you don't think she meant 'percolator'?

brilliant dream notions:

a dramatic new stage production about the secret lives of Scooby Doo cartoon characters.

a book examining math textbooks from something like a ten year period, critically examining their approach.

MTV was showing graphic sexual acts

the folds in her red pajamas suddenly morphed into the shape of Sean Carruther's head.

take our relationship to the PURGERATOR

(the last two i just put in because i couldn't not)

I had a dream that I was at Tom Waits' house.
We went out to his shop/garage whatever so I could help him paint something.
When we finished I had paint all over my hands.
He says in that trademark TW voice :"Here, put some pussy on em." while handing me a can of turpentine.

Funny how it totally made sense in the dream that Tom Waits calls turpentine "pussy".
Now, ummmmm..........

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 1 October 2004 18:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Someone just reminded me... I dreamed I was on a train, and on the wall was a big poster with a weird picture of a shark advertising the Noize board. Like it was a genuine cultural phenomenon or something.

This actually is one of the best thread on ILX, to read.

Last night I dreamt that I went out to Karaoke and Ned Raggett was there singing an Olivia Newton-John song. I don't remember which song it was, but he said "This is an Olivia Newton-John song." in a voice exactly like Toby Radloff from American Splendor and then began singing in a high operatic tenor. His hair looked not unlike Peter Mayhew's in the new Star Wars: Empire of Dreams documentary.

It was some sort of ballad. I'm no ONJ expert.

I always thought that people who said they had dreams about ilxors were weird but IT HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT!

I dreamt it was my birthday and my sister had a surprise party for me but let it slip on the way to the venue (a large pub with a circular bar) that she'd invited all my 'friends from ILX'(!) I said, 'I don't know anyone on ILX and don't really want them at my party anyway'. And next thing I was at the party but it was over very quickly. Next day, all my 'friends from ILX' were saying, 'Great party, Penelope' and I was saying, 'what the hell are you talking about, you weren't at my party'. And I had this awful feeling that I'd forgotten what had happened the night before and I started to panic cos I thought my mind was going.

Then I woke up.

What CAN it mean??? I'll be afraid to sleep tonight.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:45 (nineteen years ago) link

But it really was a good party Penelope!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:47 (nineteen years ago) link

It's about my mother, innit?

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:47 (nineteen years ago) link

It means you're secretly distrustful of ILXors. You're afraid we'll break into your house and drink all your booze.

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Which is the sort of thing we do, to be fair.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:48 (nineteen years ago) link

That Ned/ONJ thing was the first ILX related dream I've had as well.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:49 (nineteen years ago) link

It was so bizarre. I suddenly feel so much closer to you guys.

You really ARE my friends!

Get the fuck outta my dreams though.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:51 (nineteen years ago) link

You're afraid we'll break into your house and drink all your booze.

Or crash your party with a giant fucking boat.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 18:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha. Perfect.

usually whenever ilxors feature in my dreams they're just making a cameo appearance or are off doing something in the background. depends how well i know the ilxors, though.

pfeffernuesse (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 19:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Omigod, I forgot about this! I had a dream that Colette and I moved into this beautiful new apartment, and we had finally got all our stuff in, and were sorting it out, and then all these TEENAGE GIRLS turn up and start wrecking everything.

Turns out that we had been duped by a shifty landlord, and our fab new "apartment" was actually the lobby of a GIRLS BOARDING SCHOOL.

I'm sure there are conclusions to be drawn there about "being on ILX just like being back in high school" or something...

what katie didn't do, Wednesday, 6 October 2004 09:51 (nineteen years ago) link

i had this fucking horrible nightmare last night. i will describe it only it won't sound bad--what was really bad was the feeling of dread it inspired in me for no reason.

so it's two weeks from now, and i'm in paris. only i don't know how i got there or what has happened in the two intervening weeks--i somehow have blanked it out or am suffering from minor amnesia. i'm in a restaurant, a long place with one wall full of little sculptures of buildings. or maybe they are buildings! because they start to get bombed or something, and i can't figure out if it's real buildings in the distance or weird little models in the restaurant.

all the time i am thinking, "SHIT, THIS ISN'T A DREAM. THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS A DREAM!" it was like a reverse-lucid dream! then i "wake up" and try to post about it on ilx, except this is dream-within-a-dream styles going on here!

then i really wake up and kinda freak out and scare the gf and sneeze a lot.

The End

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:27 (nineteen years ago) link

The scariest part is the sneezing! WHY?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:33 (nineteen years ago) link

I am currently having a recurring dream that I am watching The Incredibles and it is SHOCKINGLY bad but I can't leave the theater!

I had the worst dream ever last night:

I was listening to football results on the radio. (Note, I do not like or understand football) I was waiting for something. When the announcer said 'Arbroath' (Not the result mind, just the team. I don't even know if Arbroath have a team) I leapt in the air and cheered.

I also did this in my bed, asleep. I've pulled my back really badly, and woke up in pain. Certain movements cause a surprising amount of pain, which makes me catch my breath and feel sick. So, worst dream ever.

Also, I'm trying to find a meaning. Why Arbroath? Is Arbroath a good thing? - I cheered, implying it was good, but it also destroyed my back, so who knows?

i had four ilxors show up in my dreams lately at various times. five if you count people who've only posted a few times.

paranoia is the hipster's disease (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 24 October 2004 23:03 (nineteen years ago) link

I had a dream about a month and a half ago that was just... well, it was mundane, but odd in its mundane-ness. The whole of the dream was just me posting to ILX. I remember having something I'd really wanted to post, rushing over to my home computer, and posting to ILX, and then when I got to the "Success!" page, I woke up. I think it was something that I felt would incite quite a bit of controversy and was actually nervously anticipating the reaction to the post.

Odd thing is, for the first few minutes after waking up from that, I felt like I *did* post whatever it was that I had dreamed I'd posted and rushed over to ILX to see what the reaction was like. Hmph.

In my dream yesterday evening I was playing Scrabble with Koogs, Cathy and Caitlin. It was really odd. The dream ended when (for some reason, we had the scrabble board set up on the wall, and we place tiles by somehow fixing the letters on the board, without glue or anything) I messed up, and made all the tiles fall down!

The word I was trying to put on was "WAKE", I didn't realise the significance of the word until I woke up after that and remembered that I shouldn't have been sleeping at the time.

I was going to have the W on a triple letter too, had I not messed up. But it was all a dream anyway.

two weeks pass...
Last night I had one of those typical dreams where I was back in college and running around trying to figure out where my classes were and what was going on, but at one point I went into this little mini green house and Jeff-PTTL was there with a camera, taking pictures of the plants, including some huge tomatoes, and then he was talking to me and these two girls and going on and on and I was thinking that he was talking too much (perhaps I was subconsciously thinking of the name of his zine?). IRL, Jeff-PTTL doesn't talk too much. He talks just right.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 17:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Was I talking about tomatos? I could go on and on about the glory of tomatoes.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:12 (nineteen years ago) link

You should then, because Nick hates tomatoes. It's bad for a relationship. I love me a good ripe mater.
