So we still haven't seen the explanation for the scene where Locke, Sawyer, etc. were in the outrigger being shot at by the people in the other outrigger, have we? For awhile we assumed that it was the Ajira/Shadow of the Statue people, but now that they've merged with the Others I wonder. Perhaps Ilana and the Others see John Locke (actual) in the boat and think he's non-Locke.

I thought that was given away when we saw the Shadow people arrive on the main island in the canoe with Lapidus having an arm wound in the finale (having been shot by Juliet during that time jump earlier in the season). It wasn't explicitly stated, but I think it fits, unless Lapidus got that wound sometime earlier and I forgot.... I doubt there's anyone else it could've been, unless they decide to revisit it in season 6.

He's had that wound since 316 crashed.
― a short guy with a lot of power (Clay), Sunday, 17 May 2009 05:35 (fifteen years ago) link
Ah yeah, you're right. Still, doesn't seem like it could be anyone else logically... makes sense, they probably thought it was Ben and Locke (or affiliates) running off after having shot Cesar.

omg what if s6 - the driveshaft ring and the guitar case?? - what if charlie is alive again omg. i don't know how i feel about that, but why else those things, just to remind us of him?

― Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Sunday, 17 May 2009 10:28 (fifteen years ago) link
charlie is definitley not alive. but apparently fakelocke can take on the role as anyone whose dead body was on the island it seems. so the ring and guitar case are foreshadowing that we will see charlie next season? (hurley will think it's really him, hilarity will ensue)

I'm guessing Ilana might be quite difficult to kill as well.

if notlocke ("noooooootloooooocke") actually changed into fakechristian in front of jack...well it might make the scene where jack and locke (as jack would believe him to be) meet again more interesting

I like the hint of the Charlie return. Not so much that the actor will come back and play him, but so that his whole S3 sacrifice to have Claire get a helicopter rescue wasn't basically worthless, since she "died" anyway. Fairly sure she is coming back, and we'll probably finally get a better look at the whole pregnancy mystery since they're going back to S1. Maybe even more Black Rock and black smoke! Clearly "the monster" has already returned...

One of the things that was disappointing about this finale was that Richard seems to be nothing more than Obi Wan Jacobi's immortal messenger boy and has next to no authority. Dude deserves better, hopefully he'll get to kick some ass with the shadow of the statue people. Looking forward to the eventual episode that shows why Jacob gave him immortality.

I am wondering if perhaps there is a power above Jacob/Nemesis, just as there turned out to be a level above Ben/Widmore. I think the island itself has some level of power that isn't due to Jacob or Nemesis, and probably will not be explained by the end of S6.

One of the things that was disappointing about this finale was that Richard seems to be nothing more than Obi Wan Jacobi's immortal messenger boy and has next to no authority.
They've been hinting at this pretty much since Richard first appeared. With the exception of saving Ben's life and hitting Ellie over the head, he's done pretty much nothing but mediate.

Maybe da smoke monster or whoever/whatever smokey's acting guard dog for? Was it the statue that smokey was having a face-off w in that heiroglyph?

Bloopers and continuity errors During Kate's flashback to the 1980s, bottles of Malibu Tropical Banana and Absolut 100 Black can be seen on the shelf. Both products were not introduced until 2007.
When you're fucking around with time travel & multiple timeline stories you really should try to avoid shit like this.

eh. the biggest offense was juliet's flashback anachronism. what the fuck were they thinking?

Yeah, same with that one. It was like they couldn't be arsed setting up another vintage looking set.

― scottpl, Wednesday, 20 May 2009 12:49 (fifteen years ago) link
Couldn't pinpoint how? I'd say that pretty much everything about the scene, from the interior design of the home to the way people were dressed, was pretty 00's.
― mh, Wednesday, 20 May 2009 13:30 (fifteen years ago) link
That flashback was so WTF with regard to design/context that I still suspect it wasn't accidental.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 20 May 2009 13:34 (fifteen years ago) link
That whole flashback was pretty much the dictionary definition of "half-arsed". It's almost like they didn't bother because they knew everyone would just go "fuck off" and fast forward through it/go and put the kettle on.
