i bet if locke really is dead the reveal will somehow be done thru miles... or we'll see locke on the '70s island

Ilana knows what's in that metal box right? So I don't think she'd be so good at pretending that her reactions to Locke after meeting him would be phoney. He doesn't seem to know what her agenda is either tho.

Locke was found in the jungle near the beach by people right? so he teleported or whatever and the empty (like Christian's) coffin is still on board the plane.

i like the idea that richard's just been camping out on the beach building ships in bottles for the past three years.

Or if the Locke we're seeing is a Smokey apparition, the actual-dead Locke could also reveal hisself to Hugo?

this season is such a rip-off.

Ideally I'd like the reveal to consist of black smoke suddenly pouring out of Locke's every orifice as he opens his mouth and begins speaking in that weird clicky noise the monster makes.

Yeah, I've really dug this season for the most part.

i was serious. i really feel like they wasted lots of valuable time. i feel led on, toyed with. and not in a good way.

What are some things you feel wasted valuable time? I mean, especially compared to, say, seasons 2 or 3, and given that we're talking about a network television show.

oh i don't know, wandering around in the jungle just to fill up time, or flashabcks that told us tons of stuff we already knew?

it's become so hard to care about any of the romantic stuff. Jack and Kate? fuck off. Daniel and Charlotte? fuck off. Sun and Jin? obv they will re-unite at some point and that's nice but ffs you'd rather return to the island than stay and look after your own precious son you mad lady...

altho i did feel bad for Juliet and James when Kate appeared and presumably is the cause of why they return to the island.

again, how is this different from every other season?

This telling-us-stuff-we-already-know complaint never makes any sense to me. This is a show that had a flashback about a toy plane in a bank vault. Filling in the blanks and offering slightly new info each episode has been its MO since the beginning. Why should we expect anything different now?

My vote for what is in Illana's box--Alvar Hanso's body. He wanted to be resurrected on the island.

not really hurtling towards any one point or another, is the difference. other seasons were much tighter. still enjoyed this season tho.

desmond/penny are the only couple on the show worth caring abt imo

ya and it was a terrible episode!! the best parts of the show (imo) are always the first & last four episodes of each season--or in the case of last season, the whole season

ehhh last season had eggtown and the one with juliet and her shrink.

every time i think about watching s1 again i remember the toy plane ha ha. also the boxset won't work on my laptop ffs (same goes for BSG s1).

i thought the plane would "mean something" coz it was a bit like the plane from nigeria rite. still holding out tbh.

for the first tiem i haven't been able to keep track of what matters in the show. there hasn't been a strong arc. and so far as i can tell the show has rested a lot more on "the island wanted it to happen" than ever before. maybe that was inevitable as they began breaking out explanations. but i didn't want "fate" to be the explanation, and that's what seems to be happening...

i agree that it's gotten harder to differentiate between actual THIS IS IMPORTANT moments and random red herrings/distractions/one-off stories, but i don't mind as much. if they need to clutter things up a bit just so that all signs don't point to one big obvious conclusion everyone will see coming a mile a way, then it's for the greater good.

i've had enough of the 'hint of something at this point but then no follow up on it until many many MANY episodes later' technique.

i dunno if this is just a trend in sci-fi way more than anything else (obv happened in BSG, happens to an extent in Dr Who) or not

i kind of like the way there are so many threads that are left dormant for ages and then picked up again when you least expect it. ideally for me, every episode of Season 6 would come back to some small nagging question from the first couple seasons and answer it, just to satisfy whatever small percentage of viewers care about it and to prove that they're not completely screwing with us. xpost

Same for me too - I was so so psyched for this season, and it started out brilliantly. I know there's a whole season left but I was hoping they might tie up a few things.. actually, it's not even that, it's more that unexplained mysterious shit is happening ALL the time now - not only does it feel less important each time but it has started me doubting whether it will be all tightly wound together at the end. More than ever it seems like they're making it up as they go along, and when you think about what's actually happening plot-wise it seems a shame that all this crazy stuff is frustrating me rather than making me psyched for some super explanatory story for it all.

the problem is that a lot of those small hints relate to just one or two particular characters and it gets tough to follow up on them because of the character-centric structure of every episode. doesn't help that every major character has their own convoluted arc that need resolution, separate and in addition to the bigger story that they all share.

one thing i'd really want for s06 is the whole thread they have dropped: all the pre-2004 coincidinks: sayid meeting that guy in iraq, etc. was it because ben remembered sayid from 1977 and was keeping an eye on him? iow "the list" i guess, though iirc there were links between non-list people too. in fact, was sayid even on the list?

i liked it when they were back in the world, sun working for widmore and stuff. but i've totally lost where that went.

we need more of "i'll capture two and kill the rest".

That guy Sayid met in Iraq was a Dharma dude, not an Other, so it's kind of doubtful. I think those coincidences might have been them doing flashy Ghostwritten type shit for the sake of it (see also Charlie saving Nadia, Kate and Cassidy etc).

yeah -- i have no problem with all the random convenient serendipity in the show whether or not it's explained in a way beyond "it's destiny!" or not, it makes watching and connecting the dots a little more fun. i do have a problem with, say, Kate not seeming to find it mindblowing or even particularly interesting that Sawyer's baby mama is someone she used to kick it with, though.

The vast chasm between how people on the show act vs. how any normal person would act always drives me nuts.

i think they should write an episode next season where every line is either a very good question or a very helpful answer.

and have all of them voiced by Ben, so you still have no idea whether to believe him.

i've always kind of wondered if charlie and desmond really had met on the street like that; it's not important or even that interesting but wtf it stuck with me as a symbol of how maybe the timeline can be changed?

fnding out this season why they were building the runway instilled hell of hope that they will bring each piece back in and make it fit. but that'll be a lot of work in s6, and i thought they'd do more of it this season. still holding out for more info on the dharma drops, that's my need-to-know

My feeling about all the coincidences (Charlie saves Nadia, etc.) was that they were mostly just supposed to be cool, look at how many times these characters' paths intersected without them knowing it- type stuff, and partly little threads that the writers could pick up on later if they wanted to show how destiny brought everyone together.
