TBH, their tweeting of late has made me prouder than ever to be of the Webster lineage.

Never has a typo had such power in this galaxy

I hope 'covfefe' eventually takes root as a legitimate neologism meaning 'the moment when his courtiers stop supporting the illusion that the emperor was ever wearing clothes'. The tweet misfire was one thing, 'covfefe' was another hilarious thing, but the biggest and most important takeaway here is that it's been established that a number of people have access to his Twitter and the ability to make him not look like an incompetent dipshit (in this instance) and they did nothing.

lol Trump's base is already playing this off as a brilliant move to misdirect and explode liberal heads

frogbs, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:17 (seven years ago) link

"covfefe" soon to replace "deplorable" on hats sitting atop high-performing minds

President Keyes, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:19 (seven years ago) link

I hate this covfefe thing and how it gave Trump an opening for a "humanizing" self-deprecating follow up

frogbs, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:22 (seven years ago) link

that said I still wonder how the hell that stayed up for 5 hours, did he fall asleep mid-tweet ?

frogbs, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:22 (seven years ago) link

Considering that he's likely to announce we're pulling out of the climate change accords, it doesn't matter how little sleep he gets

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:23 (seven years ago) link

as others have said, it really does feel like a deliberate effort to undermine him from someone in their camp, but i guess you should never jump to suspecting malice when just plain incompetence is equally likely

pulling out of the climate change accords is the point where he goes full immortan joe, right?

That's pretty much their SOP for anything he does.

I don't want to belabor the point, but I think this tweet misfire is a much bigger deal than it seems on the surface inasmuch as anyone who had the power to C the POTUS's A on this one chose instead to let him dangle in the wind overnight. This might be a decisive moment in his inner circle's shift from spinning the narrative to letting him dig his own grave while they look after number one.

Trockasturm Hoar The Ramming Battle Ceraton (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:28 (seven years ago) link

look i can't help reading that as 'cum on the potus's ass' and it's frankly all your fault

You're welcome.

Communications staff in flux, not giving a fuck probably. Or people worried that Trump actually thinks covfefe is a word and will fire them for fixing it.

President Keyes, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:30 (seven years ago) link

i'm pretty sure they hate him and want him to be embarrassed

It didn't even occur to me that CYA might be a uniquely American construction, given its ubiquity in our culture.

Trockasturm Hoar The Ramming Battle Ceraton (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:45 (seven years ago) link

xpost That's a level of hypervividity I could do without first thing in the morning. Well played.

if you'd used that construction i would have gotten it but something about breaking it up like that sent my mind to some dark and unsavoury place from which i may never fully return xp

a fitting end (so to speak), given that tomorrow there will likely be a fresh, yet-unsullied thread

leprechaundriac (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 13:50 (seven years ago) link

I feel pretty strongly that any world leader who pulls out of a climate accord at this point in time deserves a swifter version of the fate he's consigned the rest of the world to. If only Trump wasn't already an ambulatory carcinoma.

Trockasturm Hoar The Ramming Battle Ceraton (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 14:04 (seven years ago) link

can someone please, if thou hast not already done, create his heraldry with Trump replaced by covfefe
?

why is everyone so fucking delighted with covfefe?

LAUGHTER HEALS – LAUGHTER RESEARCH

SPECIFIC BENEFITS TO PATIENTS:

- Reduces pain. In response to laughter, our bodies produce pain-killing hormones called endorphins.
- Strengthens immune function. Laughter increases production of T-cells, interferon and immune proteins called globulins.
- Improves respiration. Laughter increases pulmonary reflexes, lung volume and oxygenation of the blood.
- Decreases stress. Laughter significantly lowers levels of the stress hormone cortisol and returns the body to a more relaxed state.

Because it's super dumb

softie (silby), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 14:15 (seven years ago) link

xxxpost It's all about the context. Some random public instance of 'covfefe' on its own may have been amusing. An errant 'covfefe' by our moron president even moreso. A 'covfefe' that's gone untended for hours after the POTUS falls off the toilet and smacks his dome and is allowed to lay unconscious on the bathroom floor overnight by everyone tasked with caretaking the First Infant, well, that's something special. It's a powerful assemblage of letters which seems to effortlessly summarize the horrifying gestalt of this moment in history.

Trockasturm Hoar The Ramming Battle Ceraton (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 31 May 2017 14:17 (seven years ago) link

It's closer to Trump's speaking style where he's trying to articulate a thought and you kind of know what he's trying to say even though he refuses to finish a sentence, and ends up trailing off

It kind of surprises me that so many people at work can't even imagine what word he was trying to type there.

President Keyes, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 14:19 (seven years ago) link

The first thing that google.be suggests today when I start typing # (and nothing else!) over here in Belgium is: #covfefe - and he's not even our president yet!

I'm not going to search, has anyone done "You on point, cov? / All the time, fefe" yet?

also we finally get the confluence of "CYA" and "c on ts" that I've been expecting for years on this board and I'm reminded once again that I should always be careful what I wish for
