Also, he is currently in one of the most conservative autocracies on Earth. He fits right in.

Isn't any block or misdirection of Mueller going to look suspicious in itself?

Every photo of Trump looks like an artist's rendering.

Specifically one of Richard Upton Pickman's renderings.

Neal Katyal, former US acting solicitor general who helped draft the special counsel regulations, talks with Rachel Maddow about the ways in which Donald Trump might seek to undermine or eliminate the Trump-Russia special investigation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SumqujeiAM

and addresses the idea of the Ethics Rule preventing Mueller from investigating the 2 former clients of his law firm. Think that's about 4 minutes in.
Says that it would possibly lead to a separate investigation into those 2 which would be unlikely.

Talks earlier about the idea of Sunlight meaning that any White House moves to prevent or undermine the investigation by the Special counsel would have to be visible and therefore recognised or something to that effect.

The attempt to block Mueller is odd on the face of it, as it's the WH suggesting that he'd go too easy on them.

Scary: During eulogy, Ailes's teenage son threatened Fox women who alleged harassment. "I’m coming after them...and hell is coming with me.”

so trump's islam speech sounded (I only read early reports) disappointingly non godawful, was really hoping for a shitshow but it was about what you'd expect from an american politician on conservative bent speaking in an Islamic country about terrorism.

akm, Sunday, 21 May 2017 15:35 (seven years ago) link

Apparently pretty anti Shi-ite or at least readable that way. & not sensitive to changes with recent election but does that parse as obvious from a conservative?
Got a new chant in 'kick them out'. Which will be abused innit.

Stevolende, Sunday, 21 May 2017 15:44 (seven years ago) link

Well yeah, that's the spin people like Richard Spencer are putting on white nationalism. "Do whatever it is you like, brown and black people. Just do it where you're from and not in America." Easy to read chunks of the Trump speech with that part implied.

It seems kinda weird to me to have a flag covered casket for a civilian that never served in the military.

earlnash, Sunday, 21 May 2017 17:53 (seven years ago) link

lots of stains on that flag, i don't even want to know. guessing roger kept it in his office.

You can buy flags. What you do with them is up to you. In this case, you can use it to cover the casket of a dead man who told lies to tens of millions of people to make him look more honorable than he was.

Also as an aside: why is it everyone's seemed to be OK with the US being best buddies with Saudis, when it was all young wealthy Saudi men who flew the feckin planes into the WTC???

human/hutt hybrid (Old Lunch), Sunday, 21 May 2017 22:48 (seven years ago) link

Aren't the Shi'ites the branch of islam that ISIS has trouble with? So you'd think that a supposedly anti-ISIS Western leader would be wanting to side with them. Rather than create further rifts with them.
Or is that too enemy of my enemy is my friend and not following Trump logic?
