As with other people's, Comey's flaws (an exaggerated sense of his rectitude) and strengths (an exaggerated sense of his rectitude) are the same.

Someone needs to reveal to Trump that ex-presidents are still referred to as Mr President / President Trump for the rest of their lives.

that is an extremely good point

...he'll soon be out of work after a 26-year-old assistant band director at the local high school beat him in a Democratic primary.

Unless Comey's testimony directly leads to an impeachment I think he's pretty much bound to go down in history as the dude who directly cost Hillary Clinton the election.

when did Chris Matthews say that

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 20 May 2017 19:59 (seven years ago) link

Between Kim Dotcom convincing Sean Hannity he knows who killed Seth Rich and Louise Mensch and Claude Taylor saying that the Supreme Court has already impeached Trump, it's a GREAT day for morons.

It is as if some unseen adversary has copied Mr. Trump’s own velocity and ferocity in an attempt to destroy him, several people close to the president said.

It's as if that unknown adversary were the same size and shape and occupied the same physical space as Mr. Trump, mimicking his voice and accessing his Twitter via unknown means. Oh, if only we could identify this vile spectre who has constantly sabotaged our president's every effort over the course of his adult life!

i watched the roger stone documentary today

Treeship, Saturday, 20 May 2017 23:37 (seven years ago) link

there is nothing to be learned from it. all of roger stone's "dirty tricks" were stupid. he isn't "machiavellian" in any real sense because the end result of his machinations isn't governing, or advancing any actual interest, it's just getting attention for himself and his clients and making his opponents look bad.

the whole story of the republican party, from 1968 to now, is just an incredibly stupid story, and now with trump it's culminated in the dumbest way possible.

Treeship, Saturday, 20 May 2017 23:49 (seven years ago) link

does anyone else think that it is somehow more surreal to see trump in an international context? there's something about seeing the process, the entertainment laid out for him, the dignity it seems to confer upon him, and so completely undeserved

tbf it would be impossible to say that before November 2016

El Tomboto, Sunday, 21 May 2017 04:34 (seven years ago) link

he White House has refused to release a memo from a commission established by Rudolph Giuliani that was created with the express purpose of creating a legal rationale for the Muslim Ban. Under a federal court order, the memo was to be produced on Friday, but the Trump administration objected late Friday night, claiming, among other things, that a federal court cannot require the President to release documents.

throughout the entire spectacle he has come across like a naive beaming mars attacks! character

estela, Sunday, 21 May 2017 04:40 (seven years ago) link

lol

he definitely looks like a doofus, but having it spill out physically onto the world stage feels deeply wrong, like a story we've been telling each for so long it's become mythical has spilled out onto the world stage, or shit, actually more like having someone else describe your dream to you. if we could get some booing or general protest footage it would make me feel better.
