Nato officials will ‘ensure no one talks for more than four minutes to keep Donald Trump’s attention’

“It’s kind of ridiculous how they are preparing to deal with Trump,” one source said. “It’s like they’re preparing to deal with a child — someone with a short attention span and mood who has no knowledge of Nato, no interest in in-depth policy issues, nothing. They’re freaking out.”

what's that even supposed to mean

maybe it's just referring to the constant stream of trump stupidity, which somehow seems to be increasing in speed. it's been a few hours since the last really dumb thing, so... tick tick tick

Well, Trump promised to hit the ground running and he has, in his own wondrously incompetent way.

Violet Jynx, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 20:21 (seven years ago) link

Of course its blown out of proportion. The leaks were just a sign of how infuriated the intelligence community is with this POTUS.

This all needs to stop before something even more catastrophic happens.

Treeship, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:13 (seven years ago) link

scariest sentence in the haberman / thrush piece ~

There is a fear among some of Mr. Trump's senior advisers about leaving him alone in meetings with foreign leaders out of concern he might speak out of turn.

i mean, for fuck's sake

let's run government like a business, guys! tax cuts for everyone (who inherited money)!

This all needs to stop before something even more catastrophic happens.

unfortunately, it seems pretty likely that some kind of catastrophe is going to happen on Trump's watch, possibly due to Trump's own behavior. What that is and who will suffer is impossible to say.

Roger Stone, one of President Donald Trump’s oldest and closest advisers outside the White House believes the Trump presidency is in great danger from within. Appearing in a bizarre outdoor YouTube video with InfoWars founder and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Stone said that Trump enemies were going to claim that his recent leaking of classified information to senior Russian officials was evidence of Alzheimers. In that vein, Stone also said that his cabinet might even seek to remove him.

“They are going to claim that Donald Trump has Alzheimers … and that is the source of his insanity,” said Stone, who added that he spoke to Trump “fairly recently” and that there was “no evidence” of any mental deterioration. “This is completely bogus,” he said. Stone warned that if the Alzheimers narrative took hold, it would provide a pretext for Trump’s cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution and remove him from office. “They could not beat him at the ballot box,” Stone railed “So now they seek to remove him by claiming that he is insane.”

trying to imagine a) who in history has had so many contemporaries think one is colossally stupid b) who in history is less equipped to handle such a situation

Toward the end of his life Charles' fragile health deteriorated and he became increasingly hypersensitive and strange, at one point demanding that the bodies of his family be exhumed so he could look upon the corpses. He officially retired when he had a nervous breakdown caused by the amount of pressure put on him to try to pull Spain out of the economic trouble it was going through. He lived a simple life from then on, playing games and other activities. He died in Madrid on 1 November 1700 (the 39th death anniversary of his immediate elder brother), five days before his 39th birthday. The physician who performed his autopsy stated that his body "did not contain a single drop of blood; his heart was the size of a peppercorn; his lungs corroded; his intestines rotten and gangrenous; he had a single testicle, black as coal, and his head was full of water."
