I loved the scene of Roger Workman killing beers on the swingset and going aggro on Kate.

Carl Magnusssen (petey_carnum), Thursday, 16 April 2009 12:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Thought this was really enjoyable. I'm happy for the break from huge plot development before the end. Sad about waiting 2 weeks until the next one.

Also, don't think this counts as a SPOILER but:

5.14 (April 29) “The Variable” (Daniel Faraday-centric)
5.15 (May 6) “Follow The Leader” (Richard Alpert-centric)
5.16-17 (May 13) “The Incident” (two-hour season finale)

I am so stoked for the Richard Alpert one.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 16 April 2009 12:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Did anyone else think Daniel's "long time no see" to Miles implied that he's maybe been "gone" more than 3 years?

It's like the scene in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey where they study guitar for like 18 months then time-travel back in time to win the battle of the bands.

Did anyone else lol when Miles was all weepily "you DO?" to Chang when he said "Miles I need you"? It was a cute scene.

hurley connecting lost's daddy issues with star wars daddy issues a nice touch. i love their conversations. total buddies. miles acts annoyed, but you know he loves old hurley!

the last minute of each the last several episodes has been the best. hopefully one of these episodes coming up--and they look rad judging from info up thread--will finally fulfill the promise of these last-minute teasers.

I loved the scene of Roger Workman killing beers on the swingset and going aggro on Kate.

How did she ever survive life as a fugitive, when a drunk dude on a swingset can tell when she's lying/hiding something within 5 seconds?

Event Horizon (Nicole), Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:36 (fifteen years ago) link

because she is a MOTHER now not a CRIMINAL.

s1ocki, Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, so who are these "what lies in the shadow of the statue" ppl, really? Are they Ben's people? Are they remnants of Dharma?

― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 11:35 PM (Yesterday) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

yeah im thinking these people represent some non ben/widmore interest - theyre true believers

ice cr?m, Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:41 (fifteen years ago) link

The goons in the van were linked to Ben somehow though, because of the $3.2 million reference.

WmC, Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:42 (fifteen years ago) link

imo they are some anti-widmore resistance group that im sure ben teams up with when it is useful but is probably not formally linked to and im sure they hate him for some reason

s1ocki, Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:46 (fifteen years ago) link

For what he did to Scott and Charlene.

And his beauty.

Just realized Kate is being open and friendly towards Roger Linus because he reminds her of Wayne the abusive/drunk biological dad she blowed up.

Anybody still think Kate is pregnant with Jack's bebby? I kind of do.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 16 April 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Surely the van dudes (and by extension Ilana probably) were working for the Others? Would explain her arresting Sayid to get him on the plane.

I enjoyed this episode but didn't really think it illuminated a great deal. There's some good exposition that could be done with Miles but they haven't got there yet. I was hoping that maybe he'd stumbled across the Dharma mass grave before they started time travelling, that would really have shat his brain up.

I've missed Naomi though.

xpost ugh hope not. good episode tho, maybe funniest ever esp miles' expression when his dad said he liked country

when miles frowned at hurley mentioning luke cutting off his father's hand...maybe miles cuts his dad's off ha

i have a question based on last week's episode: is Roger's house in Dharmaville the same house Ben would return to later? if so when was the secret chamber/smokey's toilet within it built?

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Thursday, 16 April 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

luke cutting off his father's hand

whoops well you know what i mean. i should watch that film some time.

is "Marvin Candle" a famous C&W singer reference?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 16 April 2009 21:11 (fifteen years ago) link

i dunno but Dolly Parton's maiden name was Hallowax

Just realized Kate is being open and friendly towards Roger Linus because he reminds her of Wayne the abusive/drunk biological dad she blowed up.

wouldn't this make her want to avoid him? god she is a moron

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Thursday, 16 April 2009 21:12 (fifteen years ago) link

No because she feels BAD for killing him! She didn't know he was her dad when she did it. DUH.

Haha, I totally paused the show to write that one down, yeah, that was so classic.

Very nice 'slow' episode. I've loved Miles from the start, and this one only made me love him more. Seeing Faraday again was the wtf moment, I can't figure it out yet, but I'm glad he ain't through, because I love watching him as well. But story-wise, nothing really changed or 'happened'.

Did anyone catch who the body was Miles was driving around, or was it an insignificant (lol) other?

Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:02 (fifteen years ago) link

It was "Alverez":

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:08 (fifteen years ago) link

The next episode is "The Variable" ... I guess relating it significantly to the episode "The Constant" (one of the best episodes of the show ever)?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Nothing on that page, chap. Or was that the point?

*doesn't get it*

Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:10 (fifteen years ago) link

For me it says: "Alverez was a worker at the construction site of the Swan station in 1977. Radzinsky told Miles that he died as he fell in a ditch. Because Miles is suspicious about Alverez' head wound he uses his ability to find out what really happened. He learns Alverez had a filling which ripped from his mouth and exited through his brain. ("Some Like It Hoth")"

I think someone edited the page to fix the spelling of his name between when I posted and when you read it.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Really? I get a blank page, still. But I see what you mean now, failed to remember that, thanks.

xp

Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Wait is there really a Richard Alpert episode? SO STOKED.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Good to see Jimmy from Mad Men get punched in the face again though. I will never get tired of that.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Heh, I can't free myself of seeing him as the bum from Mulholland Drive! The punching sadly, indeed, seems appropriate. Like he's constantly asking for a severe beating.

Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:29 (fifteen years ago) link

I made the mistake of looking at the IMDB page for "The Variable" and learned a little bit about who will appear in the episode, which is always a bit spoilery.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:30 (fifteen years ago) link

DO NOT SPOIL! (know you wont, but I'm steering away from imdb because of that at the moment)

Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link

It's Juliet covered in mud; from season 3

thought so but could not remember that scene properly ack
