Locke was totally cocky - I mean, come on, he actually beat Ben, and pretty damn soundly by actually coming back to life after being murdered by the guy. He spelled it out pretty clearly about the role reversal between the two of them (remember the last two seasons, he was completely led by the nose, and shot by Ben too!). When Locke finally meets up with Jack again it should be really interesting, considering how much both characters have changed.

Ben lies about everything (the actor does such a good job that it throws everyone, the viewer too, into doubt) but I think the episode does give a bit of straw, that reveals that he may have figured out a lot of things about the island but doesn't legitimately know it all, he seemed to not know what Smokey really is, or about the area below the temple gate. Ben's lying also implied that he really didn't expect Locke to come back to life (or he would've had a better plan about that, for sure).

Still wondering about how/if they'll explain that he didn't remember the '70s incursion of the 815ers - only way that will work if Kid Ben doesn't return to Dharma before (I assume) our guys return to the present. (and that's assuming the Island intentionally took just those memories, since he remembered the rest)

The Island definitely takes a neutral stance on murdering people, innocent or guilty - I believe it only pointed out Alex's death since that was the one factor it could use to actually guilt and motivate Ben to not kill Locke again.

I think Locke's smugness just comes from being a knowing device for Island objectives ala Christian. presumably they were both re-animated the same way (whether they both emerged from their coffins and wandered off who knows). i wish we could see what happened when Locke first encountered the monster - what he saw to make him believe he'd looked into the eye of the island or whatever ("and what i saw was beautiful"), even if it was just a bunch of old memories ala Eko and he was judged accordingly. The Island does seem to judge people based on their repentence. Ben was repentent. Eko was NOT (he said he killed because he had to and was not sorry, tho it arguably led to Yemi's death...but given this was a write-out for the character is likely to be ropey as an indication of anything ultimately).

I don't see what Ben has to gain by telling Sun what he did so i don't think he was lying about being terrified by nu-Locke, hence wanting to kill him again (as Monster Alex claimed).

Ben's been trying to maneuver the survivors of 316 to kill Locke for him, even as unlikely as it is that Sun would, it's consistent - probably the central reason he bothered to shoot Cesar - and let's not forget Walt's premonition which is probably going to come to a head before this season's over.

It only just occurred to me today that Benjamin Linus is in all probability a 40 year old virgin and that is his entire problem. Even Locke has had more sex ffs.

I was dying when I saw first saw Mac in Lost - I think that might be the only thing I've ever seen him in outside of Sunny (hell, even Dennis was in Crank!).

it was an okay episode I thought though they really chickened out of any kind of decent smoke monster reveal, despite hamming up the ads all week. that was kind of disappointing. interested to know what "infected" meant when rousseau said it to emo-fringe ben.

The crap Ana-Lucia has to be working for Widmore surely? But yeah that could be anything - Jacob's cabin, the Black Rock, some kind of time vortex. Hopefully it's something really cool we don't know anything about yet.

What I meant earlier was that if Locke is a smokey apparition why would smokey in an alternate Alex-lookin' apparition tell Ben not to kill him/her/it when smokey-Locke is (presumably) undead/unkillable?

I mean, if Locke is a smokey manifestation, why could smokey not just reappear as Locke again like 10 seconds after Ben kills him again?

i don't get it, wasn't faraday supposed to have already been there with them? didn't someone in 77 say something about "what happened with daniel"? so I guess he was there, but left at some point? anyway, nice to see he isn't crazy or dead.

yeah that was the fear, that he was either crazy or dead. although you know he's going to end up at the Orchid at some point cause of that scene at the start of the season. excited for his episode next week!

^yeah, pretty much how i felt, I'm just happy for more Miles, even if it felt kinda squandered given his story potential. Still I guess they felt they needed a bit of a break before the last set of eps which will probably be more intense.

also lol for "whatever happened, happened" Faraday leaving the island!

these last few episodes have felt a bit like season 2 or something. slow on plot developments and heavy on character backstory - i'm just happy that it was on miles and not someone we already know too much about like jack or kate. plus it was fucking funny. so many good bits - basically every scene with hurley, miles' expression when his dad said he liked country, "did the ditch come with a gun?", "i'm in the circle of trust" and MALLPUNK MILES! lol

i don't know if i want flashforwards back though. there's something really exhilarating about knowing how something ended and not knowing how they got there, which is why season 4 felt so urgent and exciting but the fill-in-the-blanks style storytelling that has to come in afterwards usually just feels redundant.

I loved the scene of Roger Workman killing beers on the swingset and going aggro on Kate.

Thought this was really enjoyable. I'm happy for the break from huge plot development before the end. Sad about waiting 2 weeks until the next one.

It's like the scene in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey where they study guitar for like 18 months then time-travel back in time to win the battle of the bands.

Did anyone else lol when Miles was all weepily "you DO?" to Chang when he said "Miles I need you"? It was a cute scene.
