That donkey is lookin mighty lonesome for some horse-panionship...

Philip Nunez, Friday, 20 March 2009 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link

I would love to see a donkey capable of pushing that donkey wheel.

That's what those lazy polar bears are around for!

Didn't really want a whole episode about how they could settle into Dharmas unsuspiciously - just get on with it - but actually I really enjoyed it. That Phil guy seemed suss though - "People don't call him James" - i.e. where'd you get that name from.

Do we know when the 816 plane crashees (including Sun & Lapidus) are meant to be? Also why does Frank look so weird now?

Baby Ben is great casting. Sayid's head must be well messed up trying to put into place that that's actually Ben.

loved this bit altho initially thought maybe cos the guy is so stiff/bythebook he probably called him james when he first met him

isn't Dharma more 'surname first' anyway? this in turn maybe explaining why the Others under ex-Dharma Ben always referred to 815ers by surname.

wow that is nerdy

Normal looking beard/mustache guy: guy you now have trouble maintaining eye contact with and can't really explain why

dying here

Local Garda, Monday, 23 March 2009 22:21 (fifteen years ago) link

as with the "what" one, should've included a random Vincent bark

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Monday, 23 March 2009 22:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Re-watched Enter 77 last night and was surprised to realize I'd forgotten that Sayid had been to The Flame before, with Kate, Mikhail, Locke, and Ms Klugh. Duh. The first shot of him coming across the cabin looked so much like the first shot we saw of Dharma!Jin finding Sayid in handcuffs, wandering around.. funny stuff.

In conclusion, the Nadia-cat is probably Sawyer.

ha I saw that one too. the height of "Locke is dumb" plotting

dmr, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 16:58 (fifteen years ago) link

that episode still bugs me with its self-destruct button that only works by BEATING A COMPUTER AT CHESS.

Roz, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Me too. "Oh no! The hostiles have taken over the station! I'd better sit here for 15 minutes and play chess!"

I *am* still holding out hope that Michail's "but you, John Locke, I have a passing memory of.. But I must be mistaken, the John Locke I knew was"---(is interrupted by Rousseau, no one ever asks him what he was about to say)" ends up being something relevant and not just a throwaway.

At the time, I remember thinking that he was about to say "in a wheelchair" -- but now it seems like it could be much more significant.

Exactly the sort of lame shit that the Dharma Initiative would come up with surely?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:21 (fifteen years ago) link

great point re Mikhail knowing Locke. guessing Mikhail got to the island around the same time as Danielle (didn't he defect from Russian army during Afghanistan conflict?).

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Looks like that was more than just an assumption on my part:

MIKHAIL: Of course I don’t know you, Sayid Jarrah. How could I? And you, Kate Austen, are a complete stranger to me. But you John Locke, you I might have a fleeting memory of, but I must be confused, because the John Locke I know was paral—

ROUSSEAU: Hey! Look at this! Over here…come on.

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:25 (fifteen years ago) link

"..paraletic after we drank all the Dharma beer following the purge."

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I must be confused, because the John Locke I know was parallel universe John Locke

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:30 (fifteen years ago) link

the John Locke i know was paral - that is Russian word for total douchebag

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:32 (fifteen years ago) link

ah, sorry - when I rewatched last night I didn't hear his "para." I lose for speculating without checking transcriptions :P

got to, right

dmr, Thursday, 26 March 2009 02:38 (fifteen years ago) link

andrew m., Thursday, 26 March 2009 03:41 (fifteen years ago) link

by "their sayid" i mean of course the "he's our you" thing

andrew m., Thursday, 26 March 2009 03:42 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm guessing that Jack is somehow gonna miraculously save Ben's life

peter in montreal, Thursday, 26 March 2009 04:04 (fifteen years ago) link

I Carlos Castaneda as liked this week's literary reference ... right before acid sugarcube teepee time travel

dmr, Thursday, 26 March 2009 04:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I liked

dmr, Thursday, 26 March 2009 04:30 (fifteen years ago) link

hahaha damn didn't see that one coming.

Roz, Thursday, 26 March 2009 05:08 (fifteen years ago) link

heh definitely

Also: William Sanderson, fuck yeah!

Nhex, Thursday, 26 March 2009 05:12 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah Larry + Billie Holiday + teepee was lols.

poor baby ben no wonder dude grew up so messed up. the kid who plays him is awesome btw - he's got the bug-eyes + monotonous speech pattern DOWN.

Roz, Thursday, 26 March 2009 05:17 (fifteen years ago) link

is this the most cold-blooded killing of a child ever shown on TV?

Roz, Thursday, 26 March 2009 05:43 (fifteen years ago) link

Could be, though I feel like there might've been a terrible one or three on The Wire. Besides, Ben's probably going to miraculously survive. The kid is doing a pretty good acting job, too.

Another thought: Man, I hope this doesn't mean they're going to kill off Sayid. Finding your life's real purpose isn't a good thing on the Island! Will we ever get his wife's death scene? Will it happen during his own death episode?

Nhex, Thursday, 26 March 2009 07:00 (fifteen years ago) link

If Sayid really wanted to kill the kid he would have beheaded the little fucker and seen what the mysterious healing island has to say about that.

bear, bear, bear, Thursday, 26 March 2009 07:22 (fifteen years ago) link

i was thinking more of primetime network TV but yah The Wire has had a couple of brutal ones. xpost to nhex

and yeah kid-ben is not dead although he is most definitely gonna turn out an even worse person thanks to being shot by the guy he was rescuing. nice one sayid!

lols @ "three years no burning buses, y'all are back for one day..."

Roz, Thursday, 26 March 2009 07:35 (fifteen years ago) link

we know less about the "hostiles" than anything else on the show

It is certainly the only one I have ever lol'ed over.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Thursday, 26 March 2009 12:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Interesting--

In Moscow when Sayid exits outside mirrored writing "Олдхэм Фармасьютикалс" can be seen above the door which is "Oldham Pharmaceuticals" transliterated into Russian

President Keyes, Thursday, 26 March 2009 14:45 (fifteen years ago) link

kind of a weak episode in terms of keeping the wtfs coming but i was truly surprised by the ending

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 26 March 2009 14:47 (fifteen years ago) link

When Radzinsky talked about calling Ann Arbor for a decision, I immediately thought of Borders Books.

I could have sworn I read 2-3 years ago that Sanderson had died, and I was so relieved and happy the next time I saw him in something and realized it wasn't true.

WmC, Thursday, 26 March 2009 14:58 (fifteen years ago) link

it was driving me crazy, i knew i recognized him and could even picture his face from blade runner but could not remember what movie it was or what else he was in ... i had to look it up in the middle of the episode

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 26 March 2009 14:59 (fifteen years ago) link

LOL @

Q: "How ya doin'?"

A: "A 12-year-old Benjamin Linus just brought me a chicken salad sandwich. How do you THINK I'm doing?!"
