I don't think when Dan says "whatever happens happened" he means "someone would have come along & shot those two Others" but "Sawyer & Juliet shot those two Others is 1974 because that's what happened."

And for some reason everyone thinks that baby is Ethan which would be lame.

Yeah, except for Desmond for some reason they're doing with a hard, 12 Monkeys theory of time on this show, basically it DOES matter, because they did shot those guys in 1974, nobody else ever did, it was always them. So of course, we will have to get that eventual scene of crazy Daniel screaming at kid Charlotte not to come back to the island, knowing it is tragic and futile.

and I think that's what he was muttering about in that one scene ("I'm not gonna tell her, I'm not gonna tell her") but of course he won't be able to help himself

Desmond being the baby would be so stupid. "We need him to be safe...let's send him to my crazy distant Scottish relatives..."

The Lost fans at work are having so much trouble keeping up with the time travel stuff--which is really not that f'n complex after all. It's not even at a standard Science Fiction novel level of complexity really. They keep saying, "I liked the show better when it was more about the characters." And I say, "Really, you think it was better when it was about Boone & Shannon sleeping together or Kate breaking her toy horse out of a bank vault?" They replied, "Well it was fun to laugh at it back then." Ha, now Lost laughs at you!

i read a theory that Richard Alpert = RA (sun god) = immortal pharaoh carrying on on the island while all his egyptian god friends have long died out. it seemed a bit too lol-stargate though.

hey does anyone remember when sawyer first met alpert? i don't recall a single scene they might have shared before this ep.

yeah obv they wouldn't build an entire 'infirmary' without an idea of some medical professional to oversee it, but i'm feeling like he got hostiled.

nah i think kate looks stupid cleaned up, like she's playing dress up and it's not quite convincing.

in ancient egypt, throwing a polar bear down a well was a custom believed to promote good luck and also fertility

The guess is that Dharma was training the polar bears to turn the frozen donkey wheel, hence all the cage experiments and the bear showing up in Tunisia.

Kate is probably hotter than Juliet, it's just her hotness:annoyance ratio has gotten more and more off lately... (doesn't help that she's always been at least a little annoying)

Finally caught up last night. Maybe I missed something, or am not committed enough, but was any reason given as to why the flashes stopped and they were stuck in the 1970s?

because locke moved the wheel properly and stopped it from shifting back and forth which was making them jump around.
