i was 90% sure right off the bat and a coworker pretty much confirmed it for me today (except for one party being involved i did not expect)

Why wasn't Littlefinger in the episode?
― Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 19:50 (ten years ago) link
so who's king now
― How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:51 (ten years ago) link
i was wondering about that too. i imagine they'll have a courteous and frank discussion early on in the next episode and make an announcement that will anger no one.
― Karl Malone, Monday, 14 April 2014 19:55 (ten years ago) link
The little brother seems logical? Not like he'll be doing anything with the title.
― Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 19:58 (ten years ago) link
Joffrey has a little brother? man, for all the murdering that goes on on this show there are STILL too many characters

if my charts are accurate, I think it falls to Varys

my guess is Tywin rules until the little lannister comes of age?
― ryan, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:09 (ten years ago) link
Yeah his little brother was the kid that found himself laughing at the offensive play then realized he was sitting next to Tyrion.
― Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:10 (ten years ago) link
Does anyone have to come of age?
― Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:11 (ten years ago) link
I mean Tywin rules from behind the scenes regardless of age so unless there is an age requirement for being King I'd guess it'll be the little bro.
― Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:17 (ten years ago) link
Tommen will be king, Cersei regent, and Tywin will be the hand and actual most powerful person in King's landing.
― Dust, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:22 (ten years ago) link
Much as he was anyway.
― Dust, Monday, 14 April 2014 20:24 (ten years ago) link
shae's accent is so annoying + she's still the worst actor on the show.
Think this might be more down to the character than the actress. Sibel Kekilli was amazing in Gegen die Wand.
― Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Monday, 14 April 2014 20:35 (ten years ago) link
maybe, but she does painfully bad line readings

Carice van Houten is amazing too but she's never done much for me as whatsername

one of the better wedding gigs for sigur ros
enjoyed them cutting from theon's pained face to tyrion sausage feast
and of course

Could be wrong, but I think he's in the Vale sorting out an alliance with Lyssa Arryn.

I loved the first bit of the wedding, it was like watching a game of pool with grandma tyrell setting up a chain reaction among the guests - an antagonistic vibe being passed from person to person which made the events of the second half totally ambiguous. my money was on cersei as the killer, but the more i think about it the less i'm sure. either way, sanza is going to be in deep shinola if she stays or leaves.

Cersei?? What made you think that?
― Evan, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 13:26 (ten years ago) link
Because she's one of the last people who would be suspected; because she hates his wife to be; because she kind of hates him too. There was something about the last scene, I got the feeling she was playing up the grief and pointing the finger 'LOOK WHAT YOU'VE ALL DONE TO YOUR KING' etc. Then again there were a few brief shots of Tywin in there looking a bit sketchy(?)
― 1 pONO 3v3Ry+h1n G!!!1 (dog latin), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 13:30 (ten years ago) link
I get that- though I don't remember the last time they focused on her being conflicted by his shitty behavior.
For the last number of episodes she's been nothing but amused by his antics.
― Evan, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 13:58 (ten years ago) link
One person I watched it with thought Cersei too because of her line about feeding the leftovers to the dogs instead of the poor people, but I don't think that was anything other than her cruelly channeling her evil frustrations.
Re-watching it they *really* hold on Grandma Diana Rigg saying something like "I can't imagine something so horrible as someone dying at a wedding" as she strokes Sansa's hair knowingly...
― Walter Galt, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:41 (ten years ago) link
More like "What kind of monster would kill a man at a wedding?"
HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
― Evan, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:46 (ten years ago) link
she's my second favourite in the offings, have to say.
But I think she's slyer than that. Actively doing anything herself doesn't seem like her style. I think she manipulated it so that someone else poisoned Joffrey. Did we hear or see anyone pick up a poisonous substance earlier in the show?
― 1 pONO 3v3Ry+h1n G!!!1 (dog latin), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:51 (ten years ago) link
She said this because she hates Margaery
― 龜, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:53 (ten years ago) link
Watch Rigg's hands carefully when she's talking to Sansa.
― Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 15:06 (ten years ago) link
this is gonna get dissected at length (and undoubtedly is crazy old news in the books) but did tyrion give blond hitler wine from his own jug? was someone trying to poison tyrion and it backfired?

Virtually everyone sitting round that table had more of a motive than Cersei.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 15:41 (ten years ago) link
Her main motive would be to concentrate her power on the throne but if she was going to kill him she would probably have done so before he went and got married and therefore put another queen in the way.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 15:43 (ten years ago) link

I was worried about that too. I think they were intentionally teasing us to think that might happen with all the mentions of the sword in the ep.

the sword should have magically flew out of joffrey's hands and beheaded him
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 17:09 (ten years ago) link
flown, even
so obv tywin is still in control, the little brother is the technical king, but is margery queen? or is cersei queen-regent still?
i could see a million reasons to kill joffrey for pretty much anyone but it seems like if cersei is queen when joffrey dies, why did they tyrells wait until the marriage was official? or was it even official if they didn't consumate it?
― hug niceman (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 17:11 (ten years ago) link
unrelated, but I noticed with some amusment that margery's wedding dress was the least booby thing she's worn in the entire show

don't want to distract from that perfect snot/blood rivulet draining out of joffrey's head

I don't understand how literally anyone watching this would think Joffrey was killed by one of his own family. Regardless of how evil/insane he is, the fact remains that he's their evil/insane guy and everyone else has to suffer him. Killing him in a safe venue at the height of his power doesn't gain the Lannisters anything. It makes them look vulnerable.
― gyac, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 17:43 (ten years ago) link
Tommen stands to gain, he prob. did it.
