If Frank is meant to be on the island, then presumably he'd have been pulled out of the plane in the flash, just like jack/hurley/kate, right? Which would leave the plane without a pilot.

the problem with finding out why is that Locke is the person who's supposed to have told them why they needed to go back, but so far Locke only knows what we know. xp

interesting continuity mistake this week - the actor who played the dharma security guard at the end has been used already as a different character in a bunch of episodes

i guess they'll say re Ben's "my mother taught me" that it was a joke and that Ben is sick enough to joke about his Mom that he never even met.

The words from his father prompt Ben to run out of the house. He runs to the sonic fence, but stops just before he reaches it. He hears a brief whisper, then his mother appears on the other side of the fence. He goes to move towards her but she shouts, "Don't!" She says it's not time yet. Ben yells to her, then turns to go back home.

I initially thought the letter from Locke would say "Ben is not supposed to get back to the island and he was all mangled and beaten up cos he'd somehow cheated fate". Shame that didn't happen. When he was on the phone to Jack he looked like someone had just given birth to him.

After the show is all over I hope Cuse/Lindelof will go into a little detail about what (if anything) changed in the overall show bible/mythology when they gave Ben more prominence.

none i think. they were going to introduce a Ben-type character anyway, it just wasn't clear whether Michael Emerson would play him or not.

I think Pacey is basically right - it seemed for a while like the writers were intending to make Tom the leader of the Others, before Henry Ian Cuisack turned up and blew that idea away.
