di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 00:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Last night I dreamt that I was with certain NYCILXers at an awards show in a high school auditorium.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 00:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a dream last night but I can't remember what it was. I hardly ever remember them.

Last week, I dreamed about doing something kind of interesting, but I don't remember what that was, either. Except afterwards (still in the dream) I was telling someone I used to know about 1,000 years ago about it and they just didn't understand any of it and I was getting angry with them. Part of my explanation had something to do with Laurel & Hardy, which is really quite disturbing.

Also last week, I dreamed about someone being sexually/romantically interested in me, but it wasn't anyone I know and nothing actually happened. Obviously, the utterly surreal theme of this one made it pretty lucid. :)

ChristineSH, Wednesday, 5 March 2003 02:24 (twenty-three years ago)

about 4 days ago i had a bizarre dream, i thought about posting at ilm but this is just as good.

i was listening to the radio at work and it was this great song i'd never heard before, sounded like old orbital - brown album type caliber. and the dj comes on and says the song is by 'hitler'. yes the hitler, he went on to say hitler had faked his death at the end of ww2 and retired to his ultra-secret underground layer to work on his true passion and create the world best pop album.

it was a great song, really catchy bass line.

minna (minna), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I dreamt a couple of nights ago I was at a NYC Fap, drunk and dancing.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

a while ago I had a dream where Simon Reynolds (I didn't know what he looked like at time of dreaming) was in my kitchen I think trying to cook something with tomatoes. He had commandeered my stereo and was playing some imagined tune that was HUGE and sounded like a 2step Phil Spector with a cutup sample-choir thing for the string parts. I was really sycophantic; "hey, man, this song is, uh, really great!" But he pretty much ignored me and seemed put out that I was even there.

four weeks pass...
This morning I dreamt that Minna and Electric Sound of Jim both lived in Acton, London! We agreed to have a FAP, but I thought we should go one better and play Bingo instead, we agreed that I would post a Fancy a Bingo thread.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:06 (twenty-three years ago)

heh, I had a dream the other day abt andrew L. he told he was going to india (?!) and wasn't coming back to london ever.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a dream just last night (my first dream to involve a fellow ILXor, honestly) where I was bicycling around Louisville's Phoenix Park with hstencil, except rather than his own visage, he looked exactly like Jeff Tweedy (possibly influenced by my buying and watching I Am Trying to Break Your Heart yesterday). It was a funny & extremely pleasant dream actually; we were, erm, "on da prowl", and it was a summer day and it was just us two and like thousands of giggling girls in bikinis and hippie sundresses and whatnot. Very nice.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 15:25 (twenty-three years ago)

This dream will become reality if you come to the Derby FAP, nick.

(where the hell is Phoenix Park? I've never heard of it)

hstencil, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

D'oh! Duh nick. Phoenix Park is in Lexington...I meant, um, whatever that big one is that's right by my baby's-momma's parents house...whatever that one's called.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Well that narrows it down, then.

(my parents live right next to Cherokee Park)

hstencil, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

*a loud Family Fued style buzzer/ding*

CHEROKEE PARK!!! Your parents live right next to Cherokee Park too? That's where my baby's-momma's parents live. You don't happen to have ever known a girl named Jenny Lewis that went to Male HS do ya?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

The other month, I dreamed that Mark C was showing off a magazine article he'd written about how much he loves skiing. The article title was a bad pun on the word 'mogul'.

caitlin (caitlin), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Male HS?????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Male High School Dan. And don't ask me why it's called Male when girls go to school there; as Rummy would say, it's a "known unknown".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 20:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Woah, HS stands for High School? Who knew?

(I wanted to know why it's called Male High School. I was going to ask if the mascot was a giant wang, but I'd rather not know.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, I thought you were implying something drrrty that just went over my head.

Giant Wang Mascot = I'll make a sizable donation, and we'll see if we can get this thing going.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 21:01 (twenty-three years ago)

"It's Central Tigers vs the Male Wang! High school football at its best, folks!"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

i dreamed the other night that i had a baby. the baby could perform all manner of amazing things such as swim, walk a tightrope, and tell me not to worry about her.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 22:40 (twenty-three years ago)

omnipotent?

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 3 April 2003 08:07 (twenty-three years ago)

holy bejesus, your right.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

You don't happen to have ever known a girl named Jenny Lewis that went to Male HS do ya?

Nope. I did know some people there tho. What year did she graduate?

Dan, Central's the Hornets, I think Male's the Rams or something. It is called Male because originally it was for boys only. The official name is "Male Traditional High School," because it is the only school in Jefferson County, Kentucky that adheres to a "traditional" high school format (altho they let girls and blacks, and sometimes even black girls in now! [bad humor, I know]).

hstencil, Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Jenny graduated in '96.

One of Jenny's best friends from Male was a black girl named Lisa...um...okay I can't remember her last name.

I met a bunch of her high school friends, but for obvious reasons the only one I remember right now (besides Lisa, of course) is a skinny little white dude named Charles Mingus (and thus the obvious reason I remember him).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I graduamated in '94, but I bet I'd know some people in her class. I think my friend Nadim Ziady may have been class of '96.

hstencil, Thursday, 3 April 2003 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I have had my first ILx dream. This is very disturbing.

It involved Dan Perry. Apparently, he lives 9 floors below me in my apartment building (although I only had to go one flight down to meet him; why I would go to another floor to take out the garbage I'm not sure) with his sister. Also, he's Indian. I met him, that was it.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 4 April 2003 03:24 (twenty-three years ago)

yay, starring in a jel dream! what shirt was i wearing?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 4 April 2003 03:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow. You've managed to describe a former coworker and good friend of mine, gabbneb.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 4 April 2003 04:08 (twenty-three years ago)

What, so you have a coworker and friend who's Indian and has a sister? What an incredible coincidence!

Nick A. (Nick A.), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:07 (twenty-three years ago)

It's like he's WATCHING ME!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

At least it gives you an excuse to sing some Rockwell.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I had the weirdest ILX dream last night after passing out from too many beers. It was creepy, alot of you all were there in this scary haunted house type thing...it also contained this song that I had been listening to all night. Anyways, we all died.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a dream last night where I was at a Duran Duran concert. Sarah McL was there. We were watching them. I don't remember what song they were playing. SOrry.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:17 (twenty-three years ago)

If I am Rockwell, then Dan lives in an apartment that looks like a dorm room and features his name in large brass script on the door.

Oh, and I should have clarified - although Dan's "friend" lives 9 floors below me, I managed to go 9 floors down by going one floor down. Maybe I live 8 floors below myself?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 4 April 2003 12:32 (twenty-three years ago)

At least it gives you an excuse to sing some Rockwell.

Like he needs an excuse.

Ned could be Michael Jackson.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 4 April 2003 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

This week I had a dream where I learned that Carey and I went to college together. I was very surprised.

Last night I had a dream about the song "The Landlord's Daughter" from The Wicker Man.

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 4 April 2003 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I hooked up a show for my band in Philadelphia. It was gonna be really awesome - lots of different bands over a couple of days. Then I found out both bandmates were busy that weekend. In my frustration and need for a vacation, I went on to PA for that weekend anyway to see other bands. When I got there I was surprised to see Di Smith hanging out in a coffee shop. She was in the states visiting some (very goth looking) friends. She took lots of pix of the shows and people hanging out at the shows. Then she made a pic of revolving images and posted it to an ILX thread about the shows. THE END.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 12:12 (twenty-three years ago)

As a brief interlude in a dream the other night, I found a book I'd really been wanting to read, and to my surprise the author was Fred Nerk. I thus realised that I was dreaming and promptly woke up, and now I can blame ILE for my wack sleep patterns.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned could be Michael Jackson.

A brilliant cameo!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

YES!

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Only half-slept all night last night but the dreams were beyond wild— it felt like the dreams of somebody who was losing touch with reality, losing cognitive powers, they felt incredibly strange and wrong and scary.

There were many strange plots and diversions but Cory Doctorow was a constant antagonist, this looming force of somebody who was attempting to stalk me and ruin me and murder me— which is so weird, I’ve read many of his articles but I couldn’t place a face to him and don’t think I’ve ever spoken his name aloud in conversation—

But the weirdest ever was that large part of the dream narrative was me attempting to— while on the run— finish a masterpiece novel that had this title that was always changing, like changing in front of my eyes, but would approximately be called: “Mightn’t we see gone those who it might be best that they mightn’t see themselves out”.

I was reading Brontë poems before bed which might explain that last bit

Dreamt that I was at a party with robot versions of my dead friend coming on to me. Left the party because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to resist.

disco stabbing horror (lukas), Tuesday, 17 February 2026 17:26 (four months ago)

xp unexpected Cory Doctorow interactions are a real thing. I was at a comics shop in LA staring at the wall when someone said "get Transmetropolitan!"look over and it's him, sitting on a plush velvet chair. (I got it, didn't like it.)

three weeks pass...

I dreamed that I was in a casino where I had found a slot machine (?) that always returned a profit, no matter what I put in it (e.g., one penny always returned multiple pennies, plus some junk that I would sift out and put behind a convenient door in the machine). And it paid some handsome returns when I put in bills; before long I had amassed a fat roll of currency, which I was hiding in my purse and hoping I could take out of the casino without drawing security's attention. I assume it's an illustration of my materialism and the trite truism of getting out of life what you put into it.

Also, I only remember dreams when I wake up during them. And as a result I am dead tired right now.

I dreamt I returned to ilxor only to find that stet had been hard at work at a new ilxor experience, and it now was a one-page app with a persistent sidebar like outlook or something, popovers, and other horrible web design trends.

Glad it wasn't real.

Singer Paul Williams wouldn't let me complete an Excel spreadsheet for work until I finished cooking his panfried chicken thighs. But he ate them too quickly, and I never got to work on my spreadsheet.

A new mode of transport has come to the UK in the form of these terrifying Gothic horse-and-carts that fly through the sky on batwings. I'm sitting on the beach at Brighton seeing these phantom funeral hearses full of passengers streak across the sky and asking my friends how it's even possible. They look at me as if I'm asking daft questions. Later I buy a ticket of my own from the bus station.
