This is a simpler way to do cocktail roulette, and you don't have to build anything.

John Justen, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 20:59 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah THAT is the one i'm going to play tonight

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:00 (seventeen years ago) link

milo z, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:00 (seventeen years ago) link

OK, Matt DC has just given the Pee thread a whole new lease of life.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:29 (seventeen years ago) link

This calls for overproof rye.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

i will say that the one good thing about my job is that they don't make me work overtime. though i'm still like twitching in anticipation of leaving this place.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

If I start drinking here that will help a lot, I'll get a few extra hours in my schedule if I can do work/drink -> home rather than work -> bar -> home

I DIED, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 21:41 (seventeen years ago) link

think i'm gonna sneak a million beers into grindhouse tonight

river wolf, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 22:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Laurel, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 22:57 (seventeen years ago) link

John Justen, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:20 (seventeen years ago) link

buy a large coke and drink most of it in the first five minutes so you have to pee really bad through the whole thing?

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:20 (seventeen years ago) link

dude the pinball machine is GONE!!! it broke down and they couldn't get anyone to fix it. shit, that reminds me of a hobby/vocation/calling i meant to investigate...

the bottle has been very good to me. it has been the deciding factor in choosing my last two apartments. last one was around the corner from it, i could hear the bands from my bathroom if the window was open. this one is a block away but still well within staggering distance.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:21 (seventeen years ago) link

alternate answer: don't stay awake

xpost noooooooooo!

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:22 (seventeen years ago) link

i had no idea you lived to so close, kev.

...i'm drinking coffee. i might go for the hippy eightball. may also sneak in a sixpack of beers. i mean, i'm gonna be there for a while, right?

river wolf, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:23 (seventeen years ago) link

old place = 2340 w augusta, 3 doors down from western. the alley from my back door led directly to the bottle. new place is a block north of it on thomas. next place will be far far away from the bottle.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:25 (seventeen years ago) link

gotta get a cup

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Living within walking distance of a bar you love is the best terrible idea ever.

John Justen, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:28 (seventeen years ago) link

My three years of living two blocks from the Red Dragon in MPLS will attest to this fact.

John Justen, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:28 (seventeen years ago) link

yr just gonna spend a fortune in cab fare

river wolf, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:28 (seventeen years ago) link

next apartment won't be in the central time zone. not sure if i'm going west or east or what but i can not stay in chicago anymore.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 23:32 (seventeen years ago) link

i stand by my original statement

I had a very entertaining metro ride from work to school today. I didn't hear a word of english the whole time. First there was this lonely-looking girl with a bluetooth earpiece wearing a FRAGGLE ROCK t-shirt, than there was this group of four african women speaking some crazy african language very energetically and one of them was flipping through a hardcore PORN MAGAZINE. Then this thai/vietnamese student posse got on and chattered in who-knows-what for a couple stops while PORN LADY kept flipping pages and showing occasional "interesting" pages to her neighbor african lady and then I got off the train at Foggy Bottom where chinese hu-qin busker dude was playing some tune that started off sounding like Amazing Grace and ended up sounding like Climb Every Mountain.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 19 April 2007 00:57 (seventeen years ago) link

river wolf, Thursday, 19 April 2007 01:28 (seventeen years ago) link

TOMBOT I suspect it is the same chinese hu-qin busker dude who sometimes "graces" the dupont south metro entrance/exit with his "interpretation" of Bette Middler's "Wing Beneath My Wings."

Mornings no which said busker dude is playing at dupont pretty much wreck my day, full stop.

Some 300+ thread count sheets. The whole Hyped 2 Death back catalog. New printed pillow shams for yr sofa for spring. An armful of tiny gold bangles to stack up. A Kitchenaid mixer in tangerine. Or brushed steel.

A sisal rug. Plants for a container deck garden. Cartons of cigarettes from South Carolina. One of each dress at stopstaringclothing.com. A portrait-sized mirror for over your fireplace. A fireplace. New headphones, collapsible ones.

Laurel, Thursday, 19 April 2007 02:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Search ebay for a favorite out-of-production dish pattern to start collecting. Or a pottery house whose work you like. Or a new, emerging artist whose work you can still afford. Pick out a new favorite French perfume. Buy portable speakers for your ipod, or a patent leather folding case with the speakers built in.

Welcome to my wishlist.

Laurel, Thursday, 19 April 2007 02:43 (seventeen years ago) link
