Don't see a thread for it here, but dear god is Compliance the single biggest missed opportunity of the year. It could've been one of the great real-life horror movies ever had they not made the decision to cut away to the smirking, pervert prank caller halfway through. Totally undermines the microscopic study of people fundamentally ignorant of their rights bending under presumed authority and instead turns it into a pretentious Phone Booth. (Am now seeing that a number of other reviewers have basically made that same argument.)

That said, Ann Dowd definitely gets swapped into Gerwig/Meryl's slot. The moment when she takes the employee's clothes out to her car without a qualm but pauses to make sure that she cleans up the fast food bags from the floor of the vehicle is just perfect.

Also, it was already an episode of SVU.

Unless Robin Williams was playing the prank caller in Mrs. Doubtfire getup, I'm not sure I want to watch.

It's certainly one of the drippier episodes in that it quite resembled a Robin Williams movie.

The limit for an indie budget is supposed to be $20 million according to the Spirit Awards rules (although it's at the committee's discretion).
