Misdirection is a big problem on this show so it could be either/or. Mikhail stated at the beginning of his introduction that he was the last surviving Dharma member and had a deal with the others w/r/t not moving beyond his little plot of land.

Well, Lostpedia says Before he was revealed as being one of the Others, he had claimed to be a member of the DHARMA Initiative, but later confessed that this was not true. ("Enter 77") so I suppose I am incorrect here.

this is what Bea said to Mikhail:

(Translated from Russian)

--Beatrice: "We can't risk it, you know the rules."

--Mikhail: "There's still a way out."

--Beatrice: "We won't let them into the territory. You know what to do. It is an order."

--Beatrice: "(English) Just do it, Mikhail!"

(Mikhail takes aim at Beatrice)

--Mikhail: "(English) Forgive me"

(Mikhail shoots Beatrice) ”

where the hell is smokey hiding during all this? how come it's not out kicking time-space ass? would love to see some raptors on the island due to some time travelin. Is Bea the crazy black woman who isn't rose? the weird metaphysical one

gustywindsmayexist, Thursday, 29 January 2009 17:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I guess it depends on who controls Smokey & when they got control.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago) link

So how did the US Military find the island? And why did they think it was a good location for an H-Bomb?

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Tell us more about this HORSE theory. How does this reconcile with POLAR BEAR? Didn't Walt conjure them up with his crazy psych powers from that Spanish edition comic of The Punisher punching out the Polar Bear?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:32 (fifteen years ago) link

the polar bear was really there.

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:37 (fifteen years ago) link

polar bear was a dharma psych experiment, they were kept in those big cages Sawyer and Kate were in, etc

dmr, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:48 (fifteen years ago) link

pretty sure the polar bear is actually locke unstuck in time

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Unstuck-in-time losties represented by their power animals? - yes, please continue to elaborate on this awesome theory.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:55 (fifteen years ago) link

Vincent is actually future Walt.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

the polar bear is actually the horse, unstuck in time

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Who is the cow, seen by Frank in Season 04 (and don't say Hurley FFS)?

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Juliet, of course.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Maybe the cow is the reincarnated Mr. Friendly?

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:04 (fifteen years ago) link

um i think the cow is the polar bear

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:05 (fifteen years ago) link

that is ridiculous everyone knows that cows and polar bears are mortal enemies

CLAPSOCK (John Justen), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Can cow defeat polar bear?

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

apparently the design was based on a Scottish wine making monastery

Also that church type place where Charlie and his brother agreed to carry on with the band.

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Eloise was also the name of Daniel's lab rat, btw.

Gee max, I'm starting to feel a little hurt. Got anything interesting to say about the episode or you just want to continue to riff on what I thought was an interesting idea on a show known for smoke monsters, psychics who urge single mothers to get on planes in their 8th month, and dead parents running around an island?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:14 (fifteen years ago) link

It's easy to LOL all over things but much more interesting to hear some theories and discuss ideas related to the show. At least post pictures of hot people if you're not going to contribute to the discussion.

I thought AnaL was looking pretty hot with those wispy bangs in the last episode:

Going back to the knowledge of young Widmoria on the island - the pregnancy test we saw on the show, used by Sun, was a Widmore one. If he can't find the island, I wonder how his company's product did? I feel like Henry Gale's balloon may also have had a Widmore logo on it, maybe one that (IIRC) couldn't be seen as clearly as the producers had intended..

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:20 (fifteen years ago) link

sorry no offense intended

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:23 (fifteen years ago) link

that's a wig bro, she's bald headed

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:24 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm a lady cutty :P
no worries max I was feeling a bit ostracized though! thank you for being nice :)

the picture of Ana Lucia I posted is not terrific but I thought she looked 100% better than she ever did on the show (flashback or island).

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Isn't this new behavior for Hurley's visitations? Like they never had a makeover, or their own squad car before.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Ghost of Charlie had a haircut and some natty new threads.

This series is going to revolve around Faraday the way the last one revolved around Ben, isn't it? He seems to be the key figure of the 'island's flashbacks' - think we'll get one time jump in every episode from now on. Can't wait til they run into Ben.

Charlotte had better not be dead, I want to know what the deal is with her backstory. Although admittedly her being dead won't actually prevent that, we'll see kid Charlotte at some point.

The bit about Locke creating this sort of self-fufilling fake Leader loop is a big deal I think. Seems to be distracting Richard from looking for the real Others Messiah or whatever (Walt, it's so clearly Walt).

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:41 (fifteen years ago) link

well I have been told I make a good wingman.. but I do not adhere to the rules of the bro code!

I deserved that, PB

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:55 (fifteen years ago) link

It'll be weird if Charlotte dies before we even really get to know her.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:21 (fifteen years ago) link

It happened to Zoe Bell's character who walked off the side of Widmore's boat (I'm still bitter about that).

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, that was a real bummer. Stupid strike. :(

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm still optimistic that they're going to bring her character back at some point, even if it is only within a flashback narrative.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes yes yes. This would be awesome.
Right at the start of this episode I was pissed off because I was sure it was another 'Jack flying kites in Thailand' box of crap. But no hurray it's still brilliant!

They really need to give Locke some better lines. "Or maybe... a more appropriate question would be... WHEN have I been, hner hner hner?" Idiot. Also Richard specifically told him that next time he saw him he wouldn't recognise him. So I guess somewhere (or... someWHEN) along the line from 1954 to now they worked out the time travelling thing to their advantage.

Who was the mysterious guy poking around Faraday's lab?

Not the real Village People, Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Lol from lostpedia:
"After instructing her to push, Penny successfully gives birth to a baby boy, which leads the couple to kiss and profess their love to each other. "

Not the real Village People, Thursday, 29 January 2009 22:46 (fifteen years ago) link

I thought Zoe Bell was only cast so she could jump off the side of the freighter?

Matt DC, Thursday, 29 January 2009 23:07 (fifteen years ago) link

Sadly yes - and to talk over the radio in random episodes. God knows why they put her in the opening credits for Season 4 if that's all they were going to give her.

Nhex, Thursday, 29 January 2009 23:11 (fifteen years ago) link

Who was the mysterious guy poking around Faraday's lab?

some low-level widmore flunky I figured

dmr, Thursday, 29 January 2009 23:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Has anyone dead reappeared who was not buried on the island? Maybe the island makes zombies, and locke needs to be interred so he can join zombieland.

Maybe Jacob is zombie Locke from the future? Jeremy Bentham Locke = Jacob Elk Hymen Meter. Didn't Locke shoot an Elk with his fake dad?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 29 January 2009 23:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I just fucking realized that the Penny/Dez baby could actually be named after its grandfather.

President Keyes, Friday, 30 January 2009 00:57 (fifteen years ago) link

This series is going to revolve around Faraday the way the last one revolved around Ben, isn't it?

I actually like the fact that characters introduced in SSNs 2 (Des, Ben) 3 (Alpert) & 4 (Faraday, Miles?) have become as integral to the show as the original 815ers are. Faraday hasn't even had a proper flashback episode & he's a better character than all of the original 815ers save Locke.

President Keyes, Friday, 30 January 2009 01:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Faraday is great. Liked the love story even with him. Great actor.

I'm also sorrt Finefinemusic for mockery, nothing personal, just dumb goofing off on a thread.

ok that is definitely something
they would NOT go all l&o repeat offenders style with something where every detail is so important, would they?

i know a lady who was an extra two or three times before getting a speaking role and she said that they now (season 4 onward i guess)no longer re-use actors or extras for even the smallest parts unless its intentional

gr8080, Friday, 30 January 2009 01:14 (fifteen years ago) link

the other thing I was thinking last night. isn't it handy that Oxford University is just basically a cloister walk and a library? apparently the design was based on a Scottish wine making monastery

x-post I wanted Widmore to be 500 year old son of Alvar Hanso or something yeah
