i hate all these similar names on Lost. like both Ben and Locke's mothers being named Emily.

Locke chose not to kill Widmore because he is "one of his people" and yet Widmore didn't hesitate in the slightest to kill the guy he was with. I think that was an important correlation.

Perhaps Eloise and Charles had a nasty separation? In the enhanced version of The Lie, they said that Ms. Hawking's first name is Eloise.

yeah agreed with that...tho she does do it kind of jokingly/mockingly towards the losties it still feels a bit awkward.

i think because when she first met the castaways Hurley and Sawyer called her an Other.

x-post I know why he didn't shoot young Widmore, but the writers have given us many scenes where Locke didn't pull a gun trigger (last night, the undercover cop, when Jack had the radio) & several other scene where he kills people with his knife. Given that choosing the knife is what upset Richard, it seems somewhat significant.

hmmm, the knife thing DOES sound pretty interesting! gotta re-watch some old episodes.. the only time I can think of an other killing an other was Mikhail/patchy and Mrs. Klugh? But then they both seemed to have Dharma in their histories..

who else has Locke killed besides Naomi? he couldn't kill his dad with a knife.

Mikhail also killed the Aqua Hotties.

hahaha yes, the Aqua hotties.. But Mikhail did say he was the last living Dharma member so he doesn't really count.
has Locke killed anyone with a gun that we've seen? Perhaps he doesn't like technology.. he did bring a suitcase full of knives with him, he may just have way more practice/skill with a knife.

It's possibly just lazy writing-- Knife flying out of nowhere equals badass Locke.

The thing w/ Young Widmore killing his buddy reminded me of the Klugh/Mikhail thing in that they implied that they were supposed to kill themselves if captured. Widmore was sort helping the other guy hold up his end.

I don't think Mikhail was ever actually a Dharma member, though, was he? Wasn't it pretty clear that Ben killed all of them? I think ol' Eyepatch was just a straight-up Other.

Yeah. He initially told Locke, Sayid, and Kate that he was the last surviving member of DHARMA but then later admitted it wasn't true.

Misdirection is a big problem on this show so it could be either/or. Mikhail stated at the beginning of his introduction that he was the last surviving Dharma member and had a deal with the others w/r/t not moving beyond his little plot of land.

Well, Lostpedia says Before he was revealed as being one of the Others, he had claimed to be a member of the DHARMA Initiative, but later confessed that this was not true. ("Enter 77") so I suppose I am incorrect here.

Gee max, I'm starting to feel a little hurt. Got anything interesting to say about the episode or you just want to continue to riff on what I thought was an interesting idea on a show known for smoke monsters, psychics who urge single mothers to get on planes in their 8th month, and dead parents running around an island?

It's easy to LOL all over things but much more interesting to hear some theories and discuss ideas related to the show. At least post pictures of hot people if you're not going to contribute to the discussion.

Going back to the knowledge of young Widmoria on the island - the pregnancy test we saw on the show, used by Sun, was a Widmore one. If he can't find the island, I wonder how his company's product did? I feel like Henry Gale's balloon may also have had a Widmore logo on it, maybe one that (IIRC) couldn't be seen as clearly as the producers had intended..
