looking forward to the horse season

Local Garda, Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:50 (fifteen years ago) link

okay max I'm cutting you off. there was some good stuff being discussed here! I wrote a lot and hoped people would comment on the stuff I brought up :P

did anyone see the preview with Sawyer saying he saw Kate that prompted the horse theory?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

yes--he said, "i saw kate, and then i turned into a horse"

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:52 (fifteen years ago) link

anyway I hope that the time-skipping Sawyer & crew are "the whispers" that the Losties keep hearing and that they'll show a spooky, whispers-filled scene that we've already seen, this time from the time-skippers' point of view.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

To be fair I have to say I thought after that episode that Sawyer did look like say, I dunno, 5 per cent more like a horse.

Local Garda, Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

but it was the one alpert gave him, obv a remnant of pirate times.

ok so now alpert would have two compasses. which is... useful.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:57 (fifteen years ago) link

the next episode is called The Little Prince, I hope they are not referring to Aaron.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 15:58 (fifteen years ago) link

charlie hume >>>> aaron littleton/austen

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:00 (fifteen years ago) link

they are referring to max

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Little Princess morelike, amIrite?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

lol I was a step behind last night and forgot the new chick's name was Ellie

but ok if Ellie = Eloise Hawking = Daniel's mother ... then maybe Widmore = Daniel's father?

could explain why he funded his research for years (although obv. he could have funded it for other reasons, but still)

dmr, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Is it meaningful that Locke can kill people with knives but is seemingly unable to shoot a gun at anyone?

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

still not convinced that Ellie = Eloise, the name should've given him a clue surely.

btw, what kind of guy names his rat after his mother?

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:10 (fifteen years ago) link

locke didn't know who those people where when he was throwin knife

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:12 (fifteen years ago) link

^seems to the be the key with Locke and killing people. I'm still not 100% sure Naomi was evil...

My questions are: if the likely is true, that Ms. Hawking is Faraday's mother, how does Widmore know her? From the island in 1954, if she is Elly? But since she's on Team Ben now, aren't they on opposite sides? If so, why send Desmond to her at all? There are a lot of directions this can go...

Nhex, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:15 (fifteen years ago) link

or Widmore could just know her like Desmond said - he had been funding Faraday's research for ten years so maybe he knew Dan's next-of-kin.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link

i hate all these similar names on Lost. like both Ben and Locke's mothers being named Emily.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Locke chose not to kill Widmore because he is "one of his people" and yet Widmore didn't hesitate in the slightest to kill the guy he was with. I think that was an important correlation.

Perhaps Eloise and Charles had a nasty separation? In the enhanced version of The Lie, they said that Ms. Hawking's first name is Eloise.

oh i see hwat you are saying. the others have killed each other before in such situations.

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:27 (fifteen years ago) link

sawyer is obv a werehorse and the rat evolves via time travelin into daniels mother ok

CLAPSOCK (John Justen), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:27 (fifteen years ago) link

i mean duh guys come on try to keep up

CLAPSOCK (John Justen), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:27 (fifteen years ago) link

what i don't get is why juliet calls the others "others"

that doesn't make much sense does it

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:27 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah agreed with that...tho she does do it kind of jokingly/mockingly towards the losties it still feels a bit awkward.

Local Garda, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:29 (fifteen years ago) link

i think because when she first met the castaways Hurley and Sawyer called her an Other.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:31 (fifteen years ago) link

x-post I know why he didn't shoot young Widmore, but the writers have given us many scenes where Locke didn't pull a gun trigger (last night, the undercover cop, when Jack had the radio) & several other scene where he kills people with his knife. Given that choosing the knife is what upset Richard, it seems somewhat significant.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:37 (fifteen years ago) link

hmmm, the knife thing DOES sound pretty interesting! gotta re-watch some old episodes.. the only time I can think of an other killing an other was Mikhail/patchy and Mrs. Klugh? But then they both seemed to have Dharma in their histories..

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:39 (fifteen years ago) link

who else has Locke killed besides Naomi? he couldn't kill his dad with a knife.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Mikhail also killed the Aqua Hotties.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Locke killed a dude with his knife last week.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:42 (fifteen years ago) link

oh yeah

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:44 (fifteen years ago) link

but that was before he knew that guy was an Other. and all the people he's threatened to shoot and didn't are people he has some affection for anyway. i get what you're saying tho.

Disco/Very (Roz), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:47 (fifteen years ago) link

hahaha yes, the Aqua hotties.. But Mikhail did say he was the last living Dharma member so he doesn't really count.
has Locke killed anyone with a gun that we've seen? Perhaps he doesn't like technology.. he did bring a suitcase full of knives with him, he may just have way more practice/skill with a knife.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:49 (fifteen years ago) link

It's possibly just lazy writing-- Knife flying out of nowhere equals badass Locke.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:54 (fifteen years ago) link

The thing w/ Young Widmore killing his buddy reminded me of the Klugh/Mikhail thing in that they implied that they were supposed to kill themselves if captured. Widmore was sort helping the other guy hold up his end.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:58 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't think Mikhail was ever actually a Dharma member, though, was he? Wasn't it pretty clear that Ben killed all of them? I think ol' Eyepatch was just a straight-up Other.

Pancakes Hussein Obama (Pancakes Hackman), Thursday, 29 January 2009 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah. He initially told Locke, Sayid, and Kate that he was the last surviving member of DHARMA but then later admitted it wasn't true.

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Thursday, 29 January 2009 17:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Misdirection is a big problem on this show so it could be either/or. Mikhail stated at the beginning of his introduction that he was the last surviving Dharma member and had a deal with the others w/r/t not moving beyond his little plot of land.

Well, Lostpedia says Before he was revealed as being one of the Others, he had claimed to be a member of the DHARMA Initiative, but later confessed that this was not true. ("Enter 77") so I suppose I am incorrect here.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 29 January 2009 17:04 (fifteen years ago) link

this is what Bea said to Mikhail:

(Translated from Russian)

--Beatrice: "We can't risk it, you know the rules."

--Mikhail: "There's still a way out."

--Beatrice: "We won't let them into the territory. You know what to do. It is an order."

--Beatrice: "(English) Just do it, Mikhail!"

(Mikhail takes aim at Beatrice)

--Mikhail: "(English) Forgive me"

(Mikhail shoots Beatrice) ”

("Enter 77")

where the hell is smokey hiding during all this? how come it's not out kicking time-space ass? would love to see some raptors on the island due to some time travelin. Is Bea the crazy black woman who isn't rose? the weird metaphysical one

gustywindsmayexist, Thursday, 29 January 2009 17:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I guess it depends on who controls Smokey & when they got control.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago) link

So how did the US Military find the island? And why did they think it was a good location for an H-Bomb?

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Tell us more about this HORSE theory. How does this reconcile with POLAR BEAR? Didn't Walt conjure them up with his crazy psych powers from that Spanish edition comic of The Punisher punching out the Polar Bear?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:32 (fifteen years ago) link

the polar bear was really there.

cutty, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:37 (fifteen years ago) link

polar bear was a dharma psych experiment, they were kept in those big cages Sawyer and Kate were in, etc

dmr, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:48 (fifteen years ago) link

pretty sure the polar bear is actually locke unstuck in time

max, Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Unstuck-in-time losties represented by their power animals? - yes, please continue to elaborate on this awesome theory.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Thursday, 29 January 2009 20:55 (fifteen years ago) link

Vincent is actually future Walt.

President Keyes, Thursday, 29 January 2009 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link
