the theme song is the best

I can't tell if he rerecorded a more organic (less synthetic) version of the theme song for the S2 CD or if it just sounds better to me bcuz the subsequent tracks are better.

for those of you that don't frequent the blue oyster cult thread, BOC is currently using the game of thrones title theme as their "taking the stage" music

I get the theme song to this show stuck in my head for days at a time. It's really starting to annoy me.

Oh by the way, the CD includes 'Rains of Castermere' performed by popular indie recording artist The National. (but written by show composer Djawadi)

would totally buy a comp of self-serious indie bands doing all the big songs from the books. Though I guess there's prob not enough w/ lyrics for more than an EP.

Berninger's baritone suits the tone particularly well, imo. I don't think I'd want to hear, say, Of Montreal's take.

I'd hear of Montreal do the "a bear, a bear, a bear" one maybe!

I think had Cersei killed her kid and herself and were left dead on the throne, it probably wouldn't have felt that way. I guess nobody of note died in that battle (is Stannis still alive, then?), and maybe that's what I was expecting. It seems to have resolved the larger Stannis season arc by, largely, leaving everything "as it was".

I just want to know what happened to Stannis. If that isn't dealt with next week, I'll be pretty annoyed. I'm guessing his second-in-command is alive, and I'm assuming that dude's kid didn't make it out.
I know there were budget constraints and the battle narrowed (which is fine, I think it actually worked really well), but I did get a pretty big thrill out of that green explosion ripping apart the fleet. Well done. Some good Neil Marshall gratuitously violent inserts in the battles as well.
