So they bug out, and Jin is left behind. They have no choice but to return to the island, but it's gone.
"Where's the island?" "It's gone!" No way.

This video isn't nearly as funny as the pre-season 4 recap (Lost in 8:15) but I LOVE that narrator - she also did one for Battlestar Galactica's first three seasons.

Nhex, Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

can't stand the way she pronounces "baby" as "bebeh" tho.

Disco/Very (Roz), Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Haha OMG I was just gonna say the same thing Roz! Bebbeh! Love her otherwise though.

so the whole season is going to be about trying to get back to the island... that means how many seasons after this one? there's going to be a lot less questions and a lot more answers as time goes on, I suppose.

Andrew and I have been furiously watching season 4 (he bought me the DVD for Christmas). You should be bothered, the season was phenomenal and re-watching it has been really revealing, even for a hardcore psycho obsessive like me! I thought I knew everything.. I forgot a lot, including almost all of the Ben episode where he ends up in Tunisia. The doctor with his slit throat and the SOS! Sawyer's incredible imperviousness(no idea) to bullets and the red shirt death sequence!
I'm hosting a premiere party for 6 of us (oooh.. sounds like we need some sort of Oceanic Six theme) and am super excited. I even bought a couch!

― skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic),

Can you make a longer post about these things you forgot and other things the casual watcher might have forgot? Even if they are just short but detailed descriptions. It would be appreciated. Thanks for the consideration/

Here's a season four recap that might be handy - I don't know if I could do justice! There are a lot of nerdier Lost fans out there with better memories than me, and all are editing Lostpedia :) http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Season_4

Does ABC repeat Lost, usually? I'm going to LA a day or 2 after the 1st episode airs, but it's still a few days before it airs in the UK.

Won't have internet in LA unless I can leech next door's wireless again, and that was no way stable enough to watch video.

btw ABC is replaying the final three episodes of season four tonight in "enhanced versions" tonight. (I assume this is like last year's replays with text at the bottom of the screen telling us that Jack is in love with Kate or whatever) for those of you that wanted a refresher.

Crab Dribble (Clay), Thursday, 15 January 2009 00:11 (fifteen years ago) link

That article has got me anticipating this series quite ridiculously.

Amazed they spent five weeks on The Constant - they must really love Desmond as a character.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

I saw here that The Constant was a huge audience favorite. I love Desmond so that episode was one of my absolute faves too.
I am so excited for the new season. I've never watched those "enhanced versions" or even a recap before each new season, but last night I watched the entire 3 hour recap. So now i can barely wait until next week!

a slap in the face (Kitties!!!), Thursday, 15 January 2009 15:26 (fifteen years ago) link

just watched the finale again, it is fucking amazing. it's v schlocky at times but I think after watching all the episodes you really feel for the characters, crazy and all as the plot is. something about how scarred and bruised they all are in that final few minutes and then their horrible pact of having to lie about it all, the perseverance of them all, the way their lives are all so fucked up by the entire thing...all accompanied by that tear jerking orchestral soundtrack....BRING ON THE NEW SERIES

Local Garda, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

btw I really like Lapidus...hope he's in the new one too. Sawyer/Lapidus back and forth is essential. "Hey Kenny Rogers"

Local Garda, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Lapidus is the only freighter dude not on the poster.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

But yeah he rules.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

somewhere upthread or on another thread speculated that lapidus would have to be the one to fly them back, esp since he was supposed to fly 815 originally

amaze ordrum (jergins), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:10 (fifteen years ago) link

they never really got into the Lapidus leaving story, did they? On Penny's boat Jack is all “I hope I never see you again” and they never mention him again – you’d think if Widmore’s ship blew up he would be sure to keep his eye out for any of the crew members suddenly showing up back at home..

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:39 (fifteen years ago) link

totally agree/hope he'll be their pilot though

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:39 (fifteen years ago) link

well they haven't had anytime to get into Lapidus leaving yet really

NYT article on the impossible job of srcipt-coordinator Gregg Nations

And don't forget to contribute to, or at least vote in, my heretofore unpopular poll

Pillboxxx/The Lol Belol (Pillbox), Sunday, 18 January 2009 18:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Had he a background in computer science, Mr. Nations now says, he might have approached the “Lost” project differently. “The best thing would have been to create a database where everything’s linked, and if we’re talking about Jack and what was established in his first flashback episode, you could click on something that takes you there,” he said. But as an accountant, he was more inclined just to make notes in a ledger. “I’ve just created these Word documents, and I just write everything down.”

^^interesting... they do know that such a database exists right? Lostpedia?

Happy with the reports there'll be a lot more Sawyer in this season - he got kind of dicked over storyline-wise last year.

Matt DC, Sunday, 18 January 2009 20:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Just watched the s4 finale and the only thing I noticed that I'd forgotten was Miles & Charlotte deciding to stay on the island instead of going with Daniel to the freighter and Miles saying that Charlotte was 'back on the island' and later Charlotte saying she was still looking for where she was born.

Also Locke got some good laughs from me with Ben putting metallic stuff in the vault.

Not the real Village People, Sunday, 18 January 2009 21:33 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm not really sure what more they can do with Sawyer, though - it felt like his storylines reached a dead end by the beginning of Season 3. Like with Charlie they pulled the "he's a good guy, he's a bad guy, he wants redemption, but he's selfish" see-saw too many times without adding substantially to his story - after the Cooper strangling he feels rather pointless.

I am dying to finally see the flashbacks for Daniel, Charlotte and especially Miles.

Nhex, Sunday, 18 January 2009 22:20 (fifteen years ago) link

still kinda expecting Sawyer and Juliet to get it on given her penchant for dodgy blokes

There's loads they can do with him - and they'll need to as well seeing as he's the only Season One big guy left on the island. Well, Locke as well depending which point in time we're talking. Plus there's that baby stuff that I don't really care about. I suspect quite a bit of it will be him looking for Claire.

guys I saw a couple of clips from one of the episodes (about 90 seconds in total) and HOLY SHIT we're going to see some REALLY interesting things. Anyone having a premiere party? Any themes/ideas? I got nothing.

also, I agree with upthread.. Rewatched TNPLH on the weekend and MEGA LOLZ with Locke saying "you do know he said NOT to put metal in there right?"

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Monday, 19 January 2009 22:29 (fifteen years ago) link

oh also, I don't know what it means but I was rewatching a s3 Ben episode and Horace Goodspeed, in the episode where you see Ben come to the island as a kid, tells Ben “I was there the day of your birth,” which we obviously saw (he rescued Ben’s dad/dying mom) and struck me as having a pretty huge parallel with Alpert being at the hospital when John Locke was born. Horace later appears to John, and has the map/blueprint to Jacob’s cabin in his pocket.. so I wonder if we will see more Horace?

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Monday, 19 January 2009 22:31 (fifteen years ago) link

The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

This is the one I'm looking forward to most.

I've been watching the best bits of S4 again and Miles is hilarious.

Matt DC, Monday, 19 January 2009 22:36 (fifteen years ago) link

I hope that half the season isn't taken up by all the currently off-island characters running around California sneaking into each other's houses in the middle of the night.

Dan I., Monday, 19 January 2009 22:42 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm hoping for lots of Widmore and Ben level political intrigue. Also Faraday will have to find Desmond at some point because he'll be needing his constant back.

INCREDIBLY ANAL AND GEEKY THING I HAVE ONLY JUST NOTICED - the plot of The Constant hinges on Penny having the same phone number in 1996 as in 2004, but all the telephone numbers in London actually changed around 2000, which means Future Desmond On The Boat would never have been able to reach her. Well, actually he would, because Penny could evidently see into the future and gave him a new-style London number. Obviously I didn't notice any of this at the time because I was too busy going 'OMG this is amazing!' over and over again.
