Ignore what I said above, second half of s4 is as brilliant as I remembered, if not more. Saving the s4 finale till nearer the time...

I'm not going to read this thread, as i'm a lost-latecomer, but i'm watching the finale of season 4 and my newest theory is that john locke & benjamin linus brothers?

this show lost me for a while, but the end of season three and season four have been great.

ian, Sunday, 11 January 2009 07:08 (fifteen years ago) link

john locke & benjamin linus brothers?

my take was that locke was the successor to christian

planefull of people will be taking locke's casket back to the island ... maybe he ends up in the cabin

i almost called you tonight when i got off the train around 11:45 but i didn't know if you'd be up. drrr.

ian, Sunday, 11 January 2009 07:12 (fifteen years ago) link

ANYWAY, i don't even know who christian is.
i missed more than a few episodes. my roommates always send discs back before i finish them.

ian, Sunday, 11 January 2009 07:13 (fifteen years ago) link

I peeked at the list of guest stars for the first two episodes and got excited.

the thing i really enjoyed aside from this thread abt watching them as they aired for the 1st time was the weeks of speculation/theorizing - i really got mentally into the show more

― ice cr?m, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 12:41 PM

yes! 4 was the first season i watched 'in real time' as i had never seen an ep til last january and somehow managed 1-3 in one month! it was great to finally know what all these people were talking about. also, reading this thread allowed me to seem really impressive w/ theories in real life conversations! i need a lost-watching group, i think, now that i will be home when it airs (if anyone is interested we now have a gigantic plasma that i think will be excellent for watching on!).

tehresa, Sunday, 11 January 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

also btw, at least in ny, they rerun lost episodes late on saturday nights :D

Psyched about the new season, but I've forgotten so much stuff! What's a good way to get into it again, take a short course to freshen the memory, without having to re-watch the entiry previous season? Any ideas?

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 11 January 2009 17:22 (fifteen years ago) link

they will probably show some kind of recap episode beforehand. this will be annoying tho.

Timezilla vs Mechadistance (blueski), Sunday, 11 January 2009 17:27 (fifteen years ago) link

I know, both of the recap and the annoyance those always are

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 11 January 2009 17:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Jack's dad the drunky surgeon, hangs out in the cabin w/ Jacob, etc

enh that's alright I don't think I was home yet then, I was out with j0n and v1c. but yeah I'm always up then pretty much.

Lostpedia is pretty good for just clicking around, episode by episode, and picking out the juicy bits or what you've forgotten.

Not the real Village People, Sunday, 11 January 2009 17:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Gah, I totally forgot about Lostpedia, what being 'lost' in all the Lost-blogs out there. Thanks!

ABC has this handy LOST in 5 mins thingy:

So they bug out, and Jin is left behind. They have no choice but to return to the island, but it's gone.
"Where's the island?" "It's gone!" No way.

This video isn't nearly as funny as the pre-season 4 recap (Lost in 8:15) but I LOVE that narrator - she also did one for Battlestar Galactica's first three seasons.

Nhex, Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

can't stand the way she pronounces "baby" as "bebeh" tho.

Disco/Very (Roz), Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Haha OMG I was just gonna say the same thing Roz! Bebbeh! Love her otherwise though.

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:36 (fifteen years ago) link

"we're going on vacation, bebeh!"

favourite lost theorizing blog: http://lost-and-gone-forever.blogspot.com/

first post on there has all the damon/carlton vids from over the break. nothing spoiler-y, just the usual ambiguous hints about stuff you've already forgotten about.

gr8080, Sunday, 11 January 2009 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link

so the whole season is going to be about trying to get back to the island... that means how many seasons after this one? there's going to be a lot less questions and a lot more answers as time goes on, I suppose.

Andrew and I have been furiously watching season 4 (he bought me the DVD for Christmas). You should be bothered, the season was phenomenal and re-watching it has been really revealing, even for a hardcore psycho obsessive like me! I thought I knew everything.. I forgot a lot, including almost all of the Ben episode where he ends up in Tunisia. The doctor with his slit throat and the SOS! Sawyer's incredible imperviousness(no idea) to bullets and the red shirt death sequence!
I'm hosting a premiere party for 6 of us (oooh.. sounds like we need some sort of Oceanic Six theme) and am super excited. I even bought a couch!

― skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic),

Can you make a longer post about these things you forgot and other things the casual watcher might have forgot? Even if they are just short but detailed descriptions. It would be appreciated. Thanks for the consideration/

Here's a season four recap that might be handy - I don't know if I could do justice! There are a lot of nerdier Lost fans out there with better memories than me, and all are editing Lostpedia :) http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Season_4

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Monday, 12 January 2009 14:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Does ABC repeat Lost, usually? I'm going to LA a day or 2 after the 1st episode airs, but it's still a few days before it airs in the UK.

Won't have internet in LA unless I can leech next door's wireless again, and that was no way stable enough to watch video.

btw ABC is replaying the final three episodes of season four tonight in "enhanced versions" tonight. (I assume this is like last year's replays with text at the bottom of the screen telling us that Jack is in love with Kate or whatever) for those of you that wanted a refresher.

Crab Dribble (Clay), Thursday, 15 January 2009 00:11 (fifteen years ago) link

That article has got me anticipating this series quite ridiculously.

Amazed they spent five weeks on The Constant - they must really love Desmond as a character.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

I saw here that The Constant was a huge audience favorite. I love Desmond so that episode was one of my absolute faves too.
I am so excited for the new season. I've never watched those "enhanced versions" or even a recap before each new season, but last night I watched the entire 3 hour recap. So now i can barely wait until next week!

a slap in the face (Kitties!!!), Thursday, 15 January 2009 15:26 (fifteen years ago) link

just watched the finale again, it is fucking amazing. it's v schlocky at times but I think after watching all the episodes you really feel for the characters, crazy and all as the plot is. something about how scarred and bruised they all are in that final few minutes and then their horrible pact of having to lie about it all, the perseverance of them all, the way their lives are all so fucked up by the entire thing...all accompanied by that tear jerking orchestral soundtrack....BRING ON THE NEW SERIES

Local Garda, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

btw I really like Lapidus...hope he's in the new one too. Sawyer/Lapidus back and forth is essential. "Hey Kenny Rogers"

Local Garda, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Lapidus is the only freighter dude not on the poster.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

But yeah he rules.

Matt DC, Thursday, 15 January 2009 16:59 (fifteen years ago) link

somewhere upthread or on another thread speculated that lapidus would have to be the one to fly them back, esp since he was supposed to fly 815 originally

amaze ordrum (jergins), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:10 (fifteen years ago) link

they never really got into the Lapidus leaving story, did they? On Penny's boat Jack is all “I hope I never see you again” and they never mention him again – you’d think if Widmore’s ship blew up he would be sure to keep his eye out for any of the crew members suddenly showing up back at home..

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:39 (fifteen years ago) link

totally agree/hope he'll be their pilot though

skeletal lexing (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:39 (fifteen years ago) link

well they haven't had anytime to get into Lapidus leaving yet really

Local Garda, Thursday, 15 January 2009 19:42 (fifteen years ago) link

VERY MINOR SPOILER INDEED

Apparently in the early part of this season we will get to see Sayid killing someone with a dishwasher.
