Here is a recently-made mold of my upper teeth. Not what you were asking for, but I can only work with what I've got here.

snoball if you do not floss, you shouldi'm a little embarrassed about how gummy my smile is
phil i want to see teeth in the mouth where they live, not on A TABLE. that's kinda scary.

I wore braces from 4th to 9th grades.
Had the headgear that I still claim residual neck pain from. Rubber bands and retainers too.
My teeth are straighter now. Still got one front bottom tooth that hides behind its buddy.
I don't know what I'm going to do when one of my kids gets pushed toward braces. I don't look like a Bald Knobber anymore, but man, it was a bitch and pain to go through.
It'll probably resemble my advice to them about attending college.

When I am feeling fatigued/irritable/wrecked, flossing always makes me feel at least a little bit better.

adequately obv
i read this thread earlier and then i fell asleep and dreamed i was sitting in a cafe in burleigh heads (a beach town near here) with my husband and mookieproof but i left them there to go meet up with la lachera, jenny and laurel. when i found them i smiled extra toothily at ll. and then i was taking them all back to meet mookieproof but then everyone disappeared and it ended up with me being arrested for breaking into a hotel room and taking a quick nap. i tried to explain to the hotel manager that the door was open and i thought it was okay and that in fact i'd done it before (because in the dream i'd taken many a nap in that room without consequence) and that this was more of a goldilocks and the three bears type of scenario than a crime and he was scornful and accused me of being on drugs and said i wasn't going to be able to wriggle out of this one.

I have a fake tooth.
― Jeff, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 13:10 (twelve years ago) link
Jeff is your fake tooth in the front? I've never noticed it.
I have a crown. I call it my crown of shame because they wouldn't let me leave the office until I paid for it in full, which I had to max out two credit cards to do and bankrupt myself in addition. Then I went outside, puked outside of my car, and drove myself home. It's on the right in the back though, so I don't know why I even bothered with it. Bad experience!
I only showed part of my bookshelves above, but there's more. I'm sure I have pictures somewhere.

― NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 15:45 (twelve years ago) link
xpst Yes, it is right beside my front two teeth. I was missing a tooth congenitally and got an implant in my early twenties. The tooth on the other side was undersized, and I have a full crown glued onto the peg tooth that is there. I spent the majority of my youth talking and interacting without showing my teeth, so I still pretty much do that. My teeth are fine now though.

Today I was at work on my way to the bathroom and I heard someone say my name. Totally did not recognize this person from a 20 foot distance, he was sitting down and knew my first name -- that's all I could tell. But I had to approach to figure it out because clearly this person was trying to say hello to me.
I got a little closer, saw his teeth, and instantly knew who it was -- it was a kid I had in class ~2 years ago (in the spring) when he was right out of high school, so he had grown up a bit. Anyway, if his teeth had changed, I would have had trouble making conversation; instead, I remembered the topic he gave his presentation about and something about his family.
Thanks, distinctive teeth!

you don't want to see my teeth. they are healthy, no cavities (!) but permanently coffee-stained and CROOKED.
― no longer the deli llama (m coleman), Monday, 2 January 2012 19:29 (twelve years ago) link
lol same here* - the crookedness seems to make the staining worse because it's harder to get in there and clean
(*except that I have plenty of cavities)

One of my students had a bit of a tooth discoloration issue, and she came to class the other day and it was gone. I was going to tell her that her teeth looked good but it would have been embarrassing, so I just told her it was nice to see her smile.
Teeth.

how does this fit in with your aversion to stories of dentistry?
― mookieproof, Monday, 19 March 2012 22:53 (twelve years ago) link
Well, I was happy for her because she looked great, but didn't want to hear details. I can't really go into detail (here) about why I am terrified of dentists or have dental work phobia, but the teeth identifying/noticing thing is way older than that.
I don't remember where I mentioned this before, but I used to call Jimmy Carter "Teeth" because when I looked at him that was all I saw (as a wee child, I mean).

This weekend ilx user Trip Maker and I were going to be at the same show, but I wasn't 100% sure what he looked like. I was pretty sure that I remembered his teeth from this thread. I figured if I saw him and recognized him, I would say hi. Of course I would!
So I was sitting on the steps, in the way, and someone sat down next to me and smiled. Within 0.05 seconds I knew who it was, and I have never met this person before in my life.
Thanks, teeth!
