I haven't seen a single Mulligan movie or performance, except the Bleak House miniseries apparently, in which I didn't recall her.

However, she has legit stage chops it seems -- I would've gone to the off-Bway version of Through a Glass Darkly if I had the cash. And I will be seeing Shame in about 3 weeks.

MW gets more ethereal every time I see her. She's like a Christmas tree fairy. I <3 her

seconding carey mulligan as a stage actress. i saw her in the seagull, and she was fantastic.

while she has no character and doesn't do anything to elevate a part that was barely written at all, Mulligan is pretty stunning in Drive.

^^^This. The key thing is Mulligan photographs well, and they built on that. That one bit where she's fixing her hair before going out on the drive, the scene where we find out the husband's coming home, really got to me.

Shame = first time I sort of didn't mind Carey. I would say it must've helped her to be surrounded by such a completely horrible movie, but that didn't work when it was An Education, so she must have improved in the in between.

This was an extremely drab and boring movie, BTW.

She was good in Doctor Who.

time to revisit this? i'm afraid to re-watch an education b/c i'm afraid it won't hold up. carey mulligan also seems so much worse since she took up with marcus mumford. i mean, i don't know that i've seen much of her since then -- except for inside llewyn davis, i guess? -- but just the fact that she is married to him.

but i will totally see suffragette in which i gather she is the star but meryl streep showboats as emmeline pankhurst.
