"isn't it weird, how you used to be in the nut house, and, uh, now i'm in jail?"

I did think the sequence with firework watching and drinking champagne at dawn and "Age of Consent" (I think?) totally nailed the basic time of friends thing.

I DIED, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

also bottle rocket made me buy Forever Changes

river wolf, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

Marie Antoinette is very pretty and fun to watch, possibly brain dead and about seven hours long, but it is totally awesome compared to Lost In Translation. Now that was a turd.

milo z, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

age of consent was in the preview!

river wolf, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

"that's...wait, what do you mean, who is that man?! that's applejack! c'mon, kumar."

also FUTURE MAN

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 16 April 2007 19:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I was also really happy that the movie ended with them riding away from Versailles instead of any of the aftermath - "hey that was a fun time too bad it's over ;_;"

I DIED, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

favorite scene in any of his movies: CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN's super brief snippet playing the piano and singing "welcome bob, got a beautiful house!" after he puts future man in a karate hold

pretzel walrus, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

YES FUTURE MAN

river wolf, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

aw. I kind of wish Bill Murray had stopped being in movies after Rushmore. he was so, so perfect.

also, I am basically Max Fisher, I think?

horseshoe, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

rushmore's use of A Quick One While He's Away=Superb!

Mr. Que, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago) link

also all I really want to design now are rococo spaces with neoclassical facades.

river wolf, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't think Marie Antionette could have even been made without permission to shoot at Versailles.

I DIED, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

I like to imagine that Life Aquatic was another director doing a parody of Royal Tennenbaums.

I DIED, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

anthony: well, why aren't you at work right now then?

MAYBE WES ANDERSON SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO OWEN WILSON FOR BEING WHACK AND THEN MAYBE HE WILL HAVE SOMEONE WRITE HIM A HALFWAY DECENT SCRIPT AGAIN.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 16 April 2007 19:37 (seventeen years ago) link

tenenbaums is more fun that rushmore, to me

TOMBOT, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:37 (seventeen years ago) link

pretzel walrus, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:38 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah stiller is kind of out of place in that movie? i like that one a lot but he really kind of is overdoing it a lot.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 16 April 2007 19:38 (seventeen years ago) link
