I tuned to DDDDDD the other week, with some of the strings just slightly out of tune from others tuned to the same octave to get a neat warbly sound.

Ours was pretty rammed (although they keep the numbers down for the space in the lumi) they must have taken £1500 on the door. Although we stuck out like a sore thumb, the sound is great there and the soundman was really on fire. Not sure how many of the audience got us and smith's fans certainly don't throw beer cans or animal body parts.

The octave mando has a pickup, I now have two because my first go with just a mic resulted in no one hearing me at all. I was looking at this bellzouki thing anyway. This saturday I'm going to give myself a headphone mix on the mando and laptop on stage and nothing in the monitors and see how loud we can get it in the room.

Richard Lloyd, assistant professor at Vanderbilt University and author of a book on Wicker Park art and commerce, said that the economic and cultural future of Logan Square is pretty open-ended.

"It's tricky to say whether this is benign or malign," he wrote of the neighborhood's progression in an e-mail. "Both artists and working class Latinos could end up getting squeezed, so maybe in ten years it's LaSalle Street market makers and lawyers haunting the bar."

Ha ha ha ha.

John Justen, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago) link

haha river wolf is the prettiest girl at the dance.

horseshoe, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago) link

More like the drunkest girl in the prom parking lot.

John Justen, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

with all due respect, of course.

John Justen, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

i still think you are the prettiest girl at the dance, river wolf, don't listen to john.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 16 April 2007 18:26 (seventeen years ago) link

drunkest girl in the parking lot and prettiest girl at the dance are not mutually exclusive

TOMBOT, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:27 (seventeen years ago) link

can't he be both?

chicago kevin, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:27 (seventeen years ago) link

exactly.

chicago kevin, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:27 (seventeen years ago) link

usage of the phrase "more like" would indicate that in this case they are exclusive terms.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 16 April 2007 18:27 (seventeen years ago) link

The drunkest girl in the parking lot usually never makes it to the dance.

John Justen, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:29 (seventeen years ago) link

dances are for squares anyway.

river wolf, let's get going with some backseat bartending.

chicago kevin, Monday, 16 April 2007 18:30 (seventeen years ago) link

^^^^^^^^^^ this is 100% true

kenan, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

my main problem today boils down to "I got nothin"

TOMBOT, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Marie Antoinette is a Sofia Coppola film. She seems like she maybe has some issues.

TOMBOT, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

"pretty girl(s) feels alienated in ostensible "home", does not get laid (much), many pretty pictures with interesting musical accompaniment, the end"

TOMBOT, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:11 (seventeen years ago) link

her main problem is that she isn't as smart as she is ambitious/skilled

ghost rider, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

</morbius>

ghost rider, Monday, 16 April 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

as movie director issues go, those seem pretty benign.
