leathery reptile-skinned gyrating tommy in those scenes one of the crowning achievements of the film imho

Mordy, Saturday, 18 June 2011 04:57 (fifteen years ago)

we finally watched Birdemic last night and it is incomparable to the Room. the former is your standard poorly made terrible flick. The Room is sublime.

Mordy, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 14:59 (fifteen years ago)

wouldn't say that Birdemic is "standard", I have never seen nor could I imagine a movie as poorly made as that one, but yeah, you can't really compare the two. before I watched The Room I was told a lot of things like "it's not just your standard "so bad it's good flick, it's something different" - 20 years from now nobody will remember stuff like "Snakes on a Plane" but I'll bet they're still watching The Room

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:03 (fifteen years ago)

it was exceptionally poorly made, yes, but I could barely watch it bc of that. soooo boring.

Mordy, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

"quiet storm"

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:11 (fifteen years ago)

it's better if you've ever tried to make movies in high school with a group of friends since it kind of brings back memories

obviously birdemic is terrible since it gets off on the wrong foot right away via an excruciating credits scene - I mean the movie is 45 minutes in before the plot goes anywhere at all...pretty remarkable

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:11 (fifteen years ago)

Strongo, you really should see the Room. Trust me.

The bible is not as essential.

Jesus wants to be like Johnny, but comes off more like Denny.

About Denny:

AVC: What do you think Philip Haldiman brought to the role of Denny?

TW: I think he brought a lot stuff. One thing was people actually, he’s really retarded a little bit.

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

"jesus, two is great but three's a crowd."

Mordy, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:25 (fifteen years ago)

I love hwen denny says he feels like he wants to kiss lisa and TW is like "Thats OK man" then later when someone actually does he kill shimself

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:27 (fifteen years ago)

it's ok to feel that way, man. it's not okay to actually do it.

Mordy, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:28 (fifteen years ago)

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:43 (fifteen years ago)

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

As far as I'm concerned, you can drop off the Earth. That's a promise.

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:56 (fifteen years ago)

"Lets toss the football around!!!!"

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:56 (fifteen years ago)

the IMDB page on this is so great

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Johnny claims that he couldn't cash a check because it was "out of state." However, it is entirely possible to cash an out of state check. Johnny, a banker, should know this.

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 15:58 (fifteen years ago)

whats funnier is that whole story is stupid but I love the line "WHAT NO TIPS FROM YOUR JOB??"

As far as I'm concerned, you can end up in a hospital on Guerraro Street. That's a promise.

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 16:01 (fifteen years ago)

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 16:02 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha this one has entered my own personal lexicon in a major way.

mine are "leave your *stupid* comments in your pocket" and "I feel like I'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting for it go to off!"

i have a friend named Mark whose facebook page has been totally vandalized with "What a story, Mark" after every post. dunno if it'll ever stop

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

I like using "WHAT no tips from your job " like for example if there is no frosting on the cake
"what no frosting !"

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

what the hell is with that guy who is only in the party scene - he happens upon lisa kissing mark and he is like WHATS GOING ON HERE - what an asshole - mind your own business.
He is such a random character/plot hole

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

apparently the guy who played Kevin (??) (the dorky looking dude who trips while playing football) quit midshoot so he was replaced by this guy who I think is "Steve"

he's one of the most awesome parts of the movie, he gets no introduction or anything, he just shows up and becomes a major character for like 5 minutes

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:28 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, I love that guy too!

original bgm, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

also, the phrase "future wife" cracks me up every time tommy drops it.

original bgm, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

lol - I wonder why everyone didnt quit. what were they thinking? they must have known that they were in a disaster

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

apparently they all got paid well and I think a lot of them knew the kind of "potential" this film had

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:46 (fifteen years ago)

are the roof scenes blue-screened? I cant decide

coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

Green-screened, Phantom Menace-style. They did a 360-degree shot in SF and filmed the scenes in a studio in L.A.

In fact, almost all of it was filmed in LA, I think, which is why they take great pains to insert "THIS IS SAN FRANCISCO HERE IS TOMMY ON A STREETCAR HERE IS A BRIDGE" shots.

Crazed Mister Handy (kingfish), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

I thought so - it looks weird
I like how mark almost murders tah psychologist guy on the roo fthen he's like - "uh sorry man
