if I don't do "Firework", I might try "Whip My Hair".
thought about "Black & Yellow" but I'm not really sure what I'd do with it.

rent, Thursday, 21 April 2011 05:07 (thirteen years ago) link

Hats off to anyone who does cover it - it's basically some guy going "black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow" for 3 minutes.

OK, hang on: I'm wanting in.

Is that last link the picklist? If not, what is?

(I know there was some discussion upthread, but I feel an official source is needed)

Mark G, Friday, 6 May 2011 08:28 (thirteen years ago) link

(OK that's obv not the source, being as how it's the sciento orgy thing.)

Mark G, Friday, 6 May 2011 08:29 (thirteen years ago) link

OK, might put dibs on "Don't stop believing"

Mark G, Friday, 6 May 2011 08:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Not sure why, but I can't really get as excited about this project as some of the other ones. Maybe if it'd been covers of the entire Now #1 catalogue or something...

emil.y, Friday, 6 May 2011 20:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Catalogue? Um, album.

Maybe if it'd been covers of the entire Now #1

zomg Too Shy! Double Dutch! Safety Dance! Rock Steady Crew! Temptation! Lovecats! MAKE IT HAPPEN.

(lol the American Now! Vol. 1 was in 1998 and features Flagpole Sitta, Mmm Bop, Sex & Candy, Karma Police, and, uh, Barbie Girl. This would also be pretty funny obv)

this thread has made me realise how little modern pop music I'm actually familiar with. Guess I got old.

Heard it this morning, it's truly great.

Mind you, at one point I did think "whoa, spotify ads?"

Mark G, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 08:42 (twelve years ago) link

spotify ads?

the tyrone power mixtape (get bent), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 16:39 (twelve years ago) link

I'll explain:

I recorded a bunch of Kraftwerk tracks onto minidisc from Spotify, back when I didn't have the Premium service. On playback, I had to edit out all the damn commercials. One of which was Ke$ha's "tik tok" featuring that very segment.

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 01:15 (twelve years ago) link

Good album, wd everyone! Gonna single out Scare Quotes's contribution as particularly +. :)

My "Six Foot Seven Foot" "cover" (really more a remix of the banana boat song) is one of my favorite ILX comp submissions.
