chicago kevin, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:35 (seventeen years ago) link

kenan, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago) link

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago) link

true, kenan, but coffee is more acceptable in the workplace.

river wolf... i don't know what to tell you that you probably haven't already told yourself a thousand times. i'm sure you have the collective karma of dc, chgo, and nyc behind you though. good luck.

chicago kevin, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago) link

xposts Yes Tom, say that one when you are drunk! It is big fave of N3lli3's dad so I learned it at an early age. If you can do it 10 times in succession I will buy you premium bouze...

suzy, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

River wolf it ain't all orgo grades, you know. Your work/life experience will look awesome on apps. Have you taken MCAT yet?

I loved orgo, but there was plenty of shit (HELLO DERE LINEAR METHODS I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU YOU FUCKING EIGENVALUES) that I just had to suck it up and limp through.

quincie, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Seriously, orgo grades are not the only thing that admissions people look at.

Sara R-C, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

oh it's not that it sucks and is hard -- it's that there's a very real possibility that the class can't be salvaged. like, getting a C would be fine right now, and i'm not sure that's a possibility. for a student like me, who has quit his "career" to go back to school (and into debt), tanking a class like this means i might have to take it again. which means another entire year of waiting to apply to med school, which is basically the least appealing thing in the world.

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Have you talked to the prof at all?

Sara R-C, Friday, 13 April 2007 17:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm so sorry, man. :( how many more tests are there?

horseshoe, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:00 (seventeen years ago) link

no, the test only finished an hour ago, and he's in class.

plus, he's totally unsympathetic to struggling students (dude's a genius, etc. fun story: girl asked for recommendation for med school once, guy handed her a sheet of paper with the words: "Good student." When she gently suggested that maybe he could write more, he took a pen and wrote "Has a nice ass." She flipped out, brought him up for review, but nothing ever really happened cuz the dude's a smarty-pants and just nabbed a 1.5million dollar grant for the university)

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:02 (seventeen years ago) link

entertaining lecturer, though.

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:02 (seventeen years ago) link

wow I hate your orgo professor. thanks for hogging all the tenured positions, dudes like this!

horseshoe, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

so are you sure you tanked it? you haven't gotten it back yet, obv.

horseshoe, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Did you get the grade back already? One of the worst classroom experiences of my life where I knew I was going to end up with an E (thx Harvard) actually ended up as a B-.

SNAP there's that question answered...

HI DERE, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

an "E"? what is up with Harvard?

horseshoe, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:05 (seventeen years ago) link

pretty sure. i mean, one of the questions i couldn't answer (1/5 of the test), and another was on the effin HW and i just drew a blank. i'll get partial credit, probably, but i'm still guaranteed to do no better than, say, a 66%.

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:05 (seventeen years ago) link

which would be fine, if it was getting curved, but everyone else did well, i think.

river wolf, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

hey actual DC people - artomatic opens today.. it's all the way out in crystal city! (where is that rotating hotel bar?)

daria-g, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm going to hold out hope that it's curved. these bitches who be not knowing what Lolita is have to suck at orgo, right?

horseshoe, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't want an artomatic. I want to revive the Automat.

TOMBOT, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Where did those Cosi dorks get all their venture money?

TOMBOT, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

That sucks river wolf ... but hang in there - sometimes partial credit is more helpful than you think it will be. (I actually had to look at my name on a recent physiology lab quiz THREE TIMES because I could not match up the score with how I thought I had completley failed it.)

Also - if necessary, could you re-take orgo this summer - with a different prof?

Sara R-C, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

when I sat for my editorial cert. exam I was wigged out by all these people leaving waaaaaay before time was called, and here I was with twenty questions still unanswered when they called the two minute warning. I was sure they all just totally aced and I was the dummy. But it turns out I passed and 63% of my fellow test-takers failed. Apparently a bunch of those ppl I thought were so ace because the finished early actually left because the test was fucking hard and they gave up!

quincie, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:09 (seventeen years ago) link

so yeah moral of story: ppl probably not do as well as you suspect.

quincie, Friday, 13 April 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago) link

we'll see. thanks for the kind words, all the same. and yeah, i can take it this summer if needs be (though it will be super accelerated, and will mean i have to put off my application for a few months).

insult to injury: bike had a flat when i came out after the test, and i forgot my flat kit at home ;______;

ANYWAY. back to yr regularly scheduled image macros
