Annie: the Musical

This was always on HBO or something when we first got cable but I'm still not sure if I ever actually saw it all the way through in one sitting, it was like I caught bits of it here and there each time. Carol Burnett ruled.

Downloaded a rip of the soundtrack to add "Maybe" to my karaoke playlist. The banter at the beginning of "Sign" is pretty hilarious without the visuals.

I hate the belters, they remind me of every girl between the ages of ten and thirteen thinking they could be a Broadway star. The movie isn't bad though, the actress playing Annie is really low key.

Except when she sings or acts.

(Maybe) is the best song in the musical, imo.

I think that even without Jay-Z, I'd still vote for "Hard Knock Life" as the best song.

The girls doing their Mrs. Hannigan impressions works, as they say, on so many levels. And the acrobatics in this number!

BTW, I'd never noticed it, but Viceroy is right about there being a whole lot of panty shots in this movie. At one point in "Easy Street," Bernadette Peters hikes up her skirt ALL the way. ALL.

when i was little, "easy street" and "never fully dressed" were my favorites; the latter still is, but it's tied with "maybe" now

I can't even tell you how much I love this movie. It was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. I was four but I remember how awesome the whole experience was very very clearly. I know most of the songs by heart and many are amazing.

I can't even tell you how much I love this movie. It was the first movie I ever saw in the theater.

I never saw Annie in a theater, but I vividly remember seeing both Star Wars and Grease in the theater, and Grease sticks in my mind WAY more than Star Wars ever did.

Me, I like the singing and the dancing.

we should stage an all-ilx production. We could even have a different Annie for each number so everyone gets a chance at a big song.

my son had a playdate at a friend's house and has been singing Easy Street all week; I forgot that the dad told me a few weeks ago that it was suddenly a big hit over there with his kids.

First time I went to the movies after seeing "Annie" I was most angry that it was NOTHING LIKE in Annie! (NB I wouldve been about 5)

My friend's kid went to Disneyworld at about the same age and was PISSED that she wasn't actually inside a cartoon.

hahaha, i actually misresd NTRVP's post as saying that the next time he/she went to the movie theater after seeing annie there, he/she was disappointed that the MOVIE was nothing like annie

like he/she just thought that's what movies were like

Kinda surprised that there hasn't been any mention of this yet (that I've seen): yet another film version of Annie, this time produced by Will Smith and starring Willow Smith (naturally), with music by Jay-Z.
