saw on the news someone got dragged out of their car and beaten in the Mission last night.

eh, not really

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:05 (thirteen years ago) link

that's a pretty suspicious use of the phrase "civil disobedience"

sarahel, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:07 (thirteen years ago) link

true - it's all a bunch of drunken yahoos obviously

otoh whoever was driving that car deserved the beating imho

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:07 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean seriously what were they fucking thinking plowing into the crowd like that. just drive down some other street!

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:08 (thirteen years ago) link

more idiots deserve to be beaten - clearly the lack of beatings is what is responsible for so much idiocy in this country.

sarahel, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:09 (thirteen years ago) link

otoh whoever was driving that car deserved the beating imho

I'm always suspicious of such language but wtf? When you see a huge crowd of people in the street, you don't decide to get all self-righteous and drive over them, ffs. Make a u-turn and leave. Last night on Haight (before the cops had shut the street down, ppl were actually helping drivers turn around safely to leave.

A Reclaimer Hewn With (Michael White), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:22 (thirteen years ago) link

Had dinner at We B Sushi on Valencia from 9-10pm and the entire time outside was solid noise, horns, people playing musical instruments out of their windows, etc. Stopped by 22nd and Mission around 10pm last night and the mood was amazing, the streets were shoulder-to-shoulder for a block in either direction. At that point it would have been completely impossible for a car to get through.

That's some crazy youtube footage but it's like six minutes out of several hours of pure love

Milton Parker, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:29 (thirteen years ago) link

the one near 16th or the one near Aquarius?

sarahel, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 22:34 (thirteen years ago) link

near aquarius

I didn't know this game was their 4th win, I thought it was their second and was a bit baffled by what seemed to be a massive overreaction on everyone's part

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 17:47 (thirteen years ago) link

I need to take 10 family members - including small children - out to dinner somewhere in Oakland Friday night. where should I go.

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 17:51 (thirteen years ago) link

Zachary's?

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 17:55 (thirteen years ago) link

camino has LOOOOOOOOOOONG ass tables

jaxon, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:45 (thirteen years ago) link

Are you driving/BART-ing? Do you mind a long wait?

sarahel, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:47 (thirteen years ago) link

Camino was yummy when I went there (for brunch, though), but it's bucks.

schwantz, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:47 (thirteen years ago) link

I would probably not bring little kids to a place like Camino but that's just me. My little kid brain wanted to go somewhere like Fenton's.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:49 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, that's why i asked about the wait - Fenton's would definitely appeal to the kids, but the lines there on a Friday night are really long.

sarahel, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:51 (thirteen years ago) link

Me and my brother are driving - several other family members will already be in Oakland and will (presumably) also be driving.

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:53 (thirteen years ago) link

long wait probably not advisable with two kids under the age of 4

klacktoveedesteen (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:53 (thirteen years ago) link

Could always have someone get there early, though.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 18:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Take it to the Oakland thread.

Huh, a thought I had when walking the hills of SF was "It's a good thing this city doesn't get ice." Good luck not sliding into an intersection, guys!

just wanna give 2 restaurant recommendations. last night went out w/the inlaws to a filipino restaurant in San Bruno (why are they all there?) called Intramuros. definitely the best flip food i've ever had.

and tonight went to Tyler Florence's Wayfare Tavern. i read a pretty shitty review of it, but talked to shasta, who's friend was friends w/him and defended it, so wasn't sure what to expect. it was AMAZING. sat at the bar because we were last minute. the poutine was seriously to die for. truffles (shaved and oil), fries, some sort of melted cheese and short ribs. four of my favorite things in the world combined. i shouldn't have ordered anything else, but i got the burger. one of the best in the city. seriously. i couldn't finish it though. pretty stoked on this place.
