I would imagine Jin would appear in flashbacks if nothing else. But now we know that no one can die unless the island lets them then it's perfectly logical that someone would survive an exploding boat in the middle of the sea with no land around at all.

it just so happened that Jin survived but all the other people on the boat we don't know didn't :)

I never thought Jin would be dead...but possibly sent to another time (Jin DHARMA shenanigans ahoy).

yeah i never thought he was dead either. cardinal rule of tv: when important characters die, they usually get their little moment in the spotlight. jin never got a proper farewell moment or episode.

yeah and that grave is obv fake.

um of course it's fake - they never even saw his body? it was more like a memorial stone planted by sun.

the important thing on a narrative/character level is that sun *thinks* that jin is dead - it's the thing that drives her to go up against widmore and orchestrate a takeover of her dad's company.

i watched the episode where Desmond goes back in time after the hatch explodes last night. I forgot how they introduced the "course-correction" idea that is later developed with Michael in S4. My life with be > 30% better when Lost returns!

Re-watching season 4, I remembered it as being so awesome but the 1st few eps are not THAT amazing (also I'm trying to convince OH of its awesomeness and may have overhyped it to some degree).
