To be double fair the Daily Mail is Britain's leading newspaper for endless coverage of imaginary illnesses developed by middle class people with too much time on their hands.
The competition is fierce though

i've seen her plenty, can't believe she hasn't swallowed her own tongue by now tbh.
sometimes you have to laugh, that's all. it's obviously a disgusting piece by an awful person, but at the same time it's funy because of the depth of feckless stupidity involved.

It's the kind of story that makes you hope somebody dear to the author goes down with severe depression in the next month, but someone dear to JSP = JSP, er, that's it

Chucklesome, after a fashion, I suppose:
But let's take a moment to consider whether depression is common among the poor or the working class?

The whole notion of stress simply did not exist a few years ago - it's become a by-product of the ' megeneration' that grew up in the Sixties and wanted to try everything, from drink to drugs to sex.
Yeah remember pre-1960 when the suicide rate was zero?

miraculously, 90 per cent of us, don't get depressed about it, don't take special medication and don't whinge about 'black holes'. That's life in the real world.
Given that the incidence of mental health problems in adults is roughly 10 per cent, this is an absolute stunna of a closing argument.

The truth is, we've got fatter and flabbier. Obesity is a medical condition too many of us are suffering from - but you can't claim time off work because you're fat. You can, however, suddenly find you can't 'cope' - and stress has become, in our work-orientated society, almost a badge of honour.
Admiring sudden break in extended article about "lol u sadsacks" to go "lol u sadsacks FAT, inventing illnesses cz your boss doesn't think FAT = day off amirite" and then snap back to previous tirade

well the issue is that she's written the article as part of an agenda, and that is the issue that needs dealing with the most. that depression is a serious and widespread issue is beyond doubt but this doesn't really seem to enter her head at any point

For many articles I write, I earn no more than £250 and often struggle to make £500 a week — just over what my rent is.But, superficially, my habits remain the same: I go to parties, eat at restaurants when my friends invite me, and pray they don’t ask me to go Dutch.
