I voted dillon, but defoe is good too. I've got the dvd, would make a good artyfunny80s double feature with home of the brave.

I played them in the car with my parents during thxgivingtime and my dad said he sounded like the CTD guy before the first song was over. Not before he said the dude mumbles too much, though.

dan m, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Today I am not only getting a new tattoo, but a brand new Sonicare toothbrush via UPS--NOT a USED one!!

i am envious of dudes who can sing that low, i have always wished i had a rich low singing voice

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:28 (sixteen years ago) link

i am probably going to buy that record player tonight. i am going to stay home and listen to records and watch the Wire and make sandwiches.

xpost, if i could sing at all, i could sing low

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:29 (sixteen years ago) link

i guess i can sing low but i can't really project at all

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:30 (sixteen years ago) link

low voice: not really worth it when you have to spend the rest of your life looking like this smug motherfucker
http://s.yottamusic.com/i/anfZ.ie4u

La Lechera, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I saw them in concert once.

dan m, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:31 (sixteen years ago) link

at least once a day i sing "stay up super late tonight, pickin apples, makin pies, put a little something in our lemonade and take it with us" in that guy's voice, it is fun. sarah can verify that i do this daily.

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:31 (sixteen years ago) link

1. are they canadian?
2. are those two dudes related?
3. how can a band that smug exist?

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Confirmed. (x)

KitCat, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link

(Smug)

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I saw them at the Buffalo/Ft. Erie (?? help me, horseshoe) PEACE festival. That's right. Peace has come at last to western New York and Ontario. This led to my dad and sister having a minor obsession with them, and us hearing two of their albums ad nauseum during our travels in Australia. Yes the dudes are related and yes they are Canadian. And come on, far smugger bands than that exist.

dan m, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh man, have I just come out in support of the Crash Test Dummies? I need to get back to work.

dan m, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:34 (sixteen years ago) link

i think i owned the album with "mmm mmm mmm mmm" on it

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:35 (sixteen years ago) link

on cassette tape

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:35 (sixteen years ago) link

One of the things I kind of admire about M@tt Pr1est is that he doesn't really get embarrassed about stuff he used to like; in fact, he still passionately defends it. Like Crash Test Dummies.

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Speaking of which, Nabisco just sent me a rough cut of his "Sl0w D0wn Ch1cag0" remix. Awesome.

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not really embarassed, I have just heard the absolute living shit out of CTD's first two albums and have no desire to ever hear them again -- just like the other few tapes we had in Australia:

Eric Clapton -- Unplugged
ZZ Top -- Greatest Hits
Frente! -- Marvin the Album

NB I will still listen and defend the music I was into at the time that my parents hated, namely Faith No More, NIN, etc.

dan m, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:40 (sixteen years ago) link

jaymc, will you send me traxx soon? i'm finishing the digd0wn remix this week but i will have time soon.

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, I wasn't saying that in response to you, Dan. I feel like *I'm* too encumbered sometimes by what's cool or uncool.

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Jordan, you should have them by tomorrow at the latest. Our new piano player (who's an electronic musician on the side) is handling this project, so he's going to get zip files made this afternoon. I'll e-mail you as soon as they're ready.
