Someone at work sent the "$30,000 worth of UPS uniforms were purchased on ebay" email and I was happy to send the snopes link around in response. People should really know better.

There were a large number of Queen videos ordered for manufacture, 2 days before Fred went.

Funny that.

Aside to that first post: the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan is below 48 degrees latitude (except for the northern half of Isle Royale National Park).

I once worked for an attorney who was to make a presentation to the YWCA about domestic violence. She asked me to help her prepare materials for her presentation, which included a laminated card containing a list of tips to prevent sexual assault. They included things like "If you are thrown into a trunk, bash out the tail light and stick your arm out so people can see -- this has saved lives!" and "Don't go outside if you hear a crying baby, this is a common serial killer's ploy!" Even though I didn't like working for her, I saved her the embarrassment and told her what's what.

I agree that Robin Williams would be a better ambassador than John Bolton.

noone saw nip/tuck? melissa gilbert smeared peanut butter on her cunt for her pit bull and then the pit bull gnawed her nipple off so she had to have plastic surgery and then her husband just returned from iraq walked into the recovery room and dumped the pit bull's dead body out of a duffle bag and the anesthesiologist had her kidney stolen.

wait, is this true?? I gotta start watching this show.

so who writes these things in the first place? especially the xenophobic fundie ones.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 01:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Concerned Citizens, i would suspect. Some of them are just copy-pasted speeched from xenophobic fundie politicians.

the question is, why do they catch on? how do they gain purchase and why do people forward them on?

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 22 November 2006 01:46 (seventeen years ago) link

That xenophobic fundie 'peace plan' is pretty funny if you imagine Robin Williams actually saying those things. Like saying it to leukemia patients in Patch Adams.

because an awful lot of people are really, really, really fucking stupid?

doing this nowadays gets you attacked as if you want the megacool story that didn't really happen to not be true or something or that you made it false with your correction.

one year passes...

a friend of mine keeps telling people that Lucy Lawless is the daughter of Blackie Lawless and I didn't correct him the first time because I figured this was a one time story he would tell, only now he keeps repeating it, so now me telling him is going to make it look like I was laughing at him by letting him tell it the whole time.

it is kind of funny to me though in that he's only 12 years older than her and she grew up in an entirely different country. not to mention his real name is Steven Duren.
