well half the goth kids in my high school shopped at Oaktree so I am pretty sure there would have been plenty of reciprocal ass-kicking coming from your end

wait--goths are called bats? or do they release live bats?

The Nightmare Before Christmas store in the New Orleans part of Disneyland is goth/nu-metal central these days. Still.

Is it common to call Disneyland "The Park"?
And tbh I would have pined for this in high school. Wld still be down with it now. I have enough black clothing to make it happen.

What is up with people who are reeeeeaaaaallly into Nightmare Before Christmas? I saw two of these last weekend. One is a cashier at my supermarket and he's got Jack Skelington wristbands, Jack Skelinton jewelry, Jack Skelington suspenders... Is their day all like "What's this? What's this?"

It's so they can show their individuality and freedom of mind against people who are really into Wicked.

I used to work with developmentally delayed & autism spectrum kids, and one kid, the only way I could get him to do anything is if I sang "What's this?" to him while he did it. He would ask me to do this by saying "dur dis!"

So where did a Goth (who probably wasn't called a Goth yet) go for clothes in the twin cities in the pre-Hot Topic eighties? I was more on the army surplus/flannel/things with parts cut off tip which meant Ragstock and Tatters and thrifts.
― Bonnie Prince Stabby (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 31 March 2010 16:46 (fourteen years ago) link
Like I said upthread, a bunch of us shopped at Oaktree and, as such, looked a lot more like Saved By The Bell castoffs than goths. Also we did a lot of military surplus, too (plus I had a bunch of my brother's Air Force stuff).
― STAY ALIVE USING EQUIPMENT (HI DERE), Wednesday, 31 March 2010 16:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I found a 1993 article that describes their look as "a signature style that now fluctuates somewhere between pseudo-Armani dresswear and casual rapper-chic."

Apparently they placed the first $1 million order with Cross Colours, which from the tone of the article was the beginning of the end for Oaktree.
