What about an option to turn them on/off. I prefer text, but if they're here to stay, then I'll make one too!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 21 February 2003 20:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

I love the logos. Why do so many of you hate fun??

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 21 February 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

How about no logo on the ilxor.com home page unless you're logged in?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 21 February 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

What Spencer and Tracer sed, and what I suggested many moons ago: make it an option under settings that you have to turn on before you start seeing them.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 21 February 2003 21:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Tracer's point is very good. But I like the logos. Although if people start making fake pop-up ads...

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 21 February 2003 23:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

Sorry Sean, Spencer, Tracer, I have better things to do than build a whole infrastructure around a logo that only few people would be able to see (and then keep it up to date etc). Sleep, for instance. So we're back to text.

didn't mean to make trouble for you Graham. Just expressing a preference. I bow to your mad .php skillz and respect your time and efforts. 4 Real.

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 20 April 2006 15:08 (eighteen years ago) link

it can easily be recreated by anyone with the Vag Rounded Bold font.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 20 April 2006 15:22 (eighteen years ago) link

cool, found it, thanks.

actually: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/adobe/vag-rounded/ lets you type in your own text and gives you a nice 72pt image in exchange.

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 20 April 2006 15:47 (eighteen years ago) link

hmm, think it may have been a different font actually. maybe Alba?

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 20 April 2006 23:10 (eighteen years ago) link

That's weird. For some reason the ilx favicon only shows up on p3r.net. It used to show up on wh3rd but doesn't anymore. This only occurs in Safari. How can I get it back?

naus (Robert T), Thursday, 20 April 2006 23:11 (eighteen years ago) link

here's the one i made so many years ago

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Friday, 21 April 2006 00:57 (eighteen years ago) link

turn out it was Alba (the font, not the person) rather than VAG Rounded. but it was too late by then as i'd already used a simplified version (i made the x square) of VAG for this:

ihttp://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/ilx/ilx.png

which is 3d spinning ilx logo with opengl video feedback effect. looks better actually moving: http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/ilx/test1.avi and more interesting still with a bit of colour cycling thrown in http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/ilx/test4.avi (both are 10sec 1M mpeg4)

(it also helps if you hum the doctor who theme as you watch)
