Dammit!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 11:23 (twenty years ago) link

I think its Bob Saget.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 11:24 (twenty years ago) link

Please promise me there will be no talk of music at this FAP.

Maybe people who want to see terrible things like the Rapture can go do that and then meet us afterwards? Like we can promise to be at a place until X time that seems reasonable and then once they get there potentially move on? Though this creates the problem of, for example, that night we met up at Hi-Fi and it was shit and we left within ten minutes.

Belle & Sebastian? WHEN? WHERE? EATMEALLY!

Though, not like they aren't playing again 2 dates in November, but still!

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 14:29 (twenty years ago) link

Eat Meally?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 14:34 (twenty years ago) link

I just don't like B&S! But I'm in a horrible mood today and don't much like anything?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 14:40 (twenty years ago) link

@ the rough trade showcase phil!

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 15:34 (twenty years ago) link

SPENCER AND MATOS (AND STERLING?): WHAT DO YOU GUYS WANT TO DO VIS A VIS SATURDAY NIGHT? That is, to me, first and foremost important. Do you all want to go to a show or do you want to drink? Please no "Whatever you guys want to do" answers.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:02 (twenty years ago) link

Shows are too taste-specific. I think there should be a place we can all agree to meet for drinks after any and all shows would be over. That way the drinkers can get saucy, while the rockers rock out and then it can all come together in a big fun party type thing.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:26 (twenty years ago) link

Is jess coming back into town for this?

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:30 (twenty years ago) link

I hope so, bnw.

Spencer, I agree with your point of view but didn't want to hammer the point around like a FAP Nazi. So do we pick Botanica? Or do you think it is too small? And by "you" I mean the NYC crew who has been there, not specifically Mr. Chow. Suggestions are welcome at this crucial juncture.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:35 (twenty years ago) link

I hope Jess comes out too!

Also, if Botanica is central and cool then that should be that. The drinkers can be sure to be there from 11 to 1? and then those that were out at shows can swing by.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:42 (twenty years ago) link

Botanica can get pretty crowded. But so can everywhere. Whatever you guys want to do is fine by me. ;-)

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:45 (twenty years ago) link

Hahahaha "central". It's not difficult to get to IIRC. I'm sure all of these shows everyone is going to are downtown.

I'm sure no one would object to hanging and drinking til everyone shows up, we're a bunch of drunks. I'm just concerned about space though, it can get crowded on weekends. OK so. SATURDAY @ BOTANICA @ around 10 or 11PM to start until whenever everyone shows up??

Hahaha we should just fucking go to Barcode and get it over with!!!

HAHAHAHA OR THE MAGICIAN!!!

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 16:47 (twenty years ago) link

Where are we going Friday? I have non-NYC plans on Saturday night, and do not want to miss Spencer and Matos.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 17:02 (twenty years ago) link

Saturday night seems pretty wide open to me. I anticipate the afternoon (haha "morning") will be taken up w/non-ILx activity, and Friday night I am going to LOTS of shows. So basically I am happy to piggyback on whatever Spencer-related activities are planned.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 17:51 (twenty years ago) link

Au contraire! I am piggybacking on your activities, Matos!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 17:59 (twenty years ago) link

You guys are making this thread all gay.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:03 (twenty years ago) link

Dude, this conversation is putting some really interesting images in my mind. Please stop using the words "I", "am", and "piggybacking" in conjunction with each other if you want me to keep a straight face at this FAP.

(xpost with bnw)

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:04 (twenty years ago) link

my plans -> thursday dfa/output nite w/ lauren & aaron
friday -> ghostly party w/ aaron
saturday afternoon -> hella @ pianos, saturday night -> maybe rapture, maybe another show, girlfriend's having a party -> i.e. could be down for hanging depending on how everything else works out

my job, mary, is as an editor at flavorpill (flavorpill.net). thanx for asking!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:05 (twenty years ago) link

I know Botanica can get crowded (as everyplace in the city Sat.) so a few other suggestions on the table are The Hole and The Coral Room. Another option would be for some people to get there early and reserve seats, though I cannot in good faith suggest this as I pretty much know I wouldn't be able to get there early.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:10 (twenty years ago) link

Cool job, Y. Ms. Redwell turned me onto flavorpill. (Did you already start? There was something in it last week that sounded very ILM.)

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:11 (twenty years ago) link

i started last week. i have stuff in the issue going out today. i get to work with our hero p. sherburne!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:15 (twenty years ago) link

yay yanc3y!

i'm gonna hit the dfa party after the cmj showcase at bowery, most likely

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:22 (twenty years ago) link

what showcase is that? rough trade? i'm sposed to go to that too. (awww... let's be pals!)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:25 (twenty years ago) link

So Yanc3y, are you planning on sticking your cock into Aaron when you're done with Vick? WTF dude? You see Aaron more than you see the rest of us for serious, is that necessary to point out every chance you get? WHY DON'T YOU MARRY HIM? (j/k etc etc...MAYBE)

Matos, which shows you going to Fri? Still going to AWK/JJ?

allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:26 (twenty years ago) link

yes, first Broken Social Scene (a friend wants to go), then probably AWK/JJ, then Chemical Bros. at Centrofly, then Hopper PR afterparty most likely.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:28 (twenty years ago) link

originally planned to go to the Magician Sat nite for a friend from Seattle's b-day party but she had to cancel her trip. so you are all spared the indignity of going to that place again (even thought it ahem RULES).

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:29 (twenty years ago) link

SCENESTERS!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:29 (twenty years ago) link

Chem. Bros.??? I think I am way more down for that than AWK/JJ, shit. I'm making Fri plans too back track back track back track--Matos I might "piggyback" you to Centrofly. but I have to figure out something else first. Arrrgh 9pm I wish it was a tiny bit later.

PS the Magician roxor, we still go there all the time you damn fool.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:32 (twenty years ago) link

oh yeah. i'll prolly be at the hopper party if i get out of ghostly early enough (why you skipping dear, dude? andy'll be there).

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:32 (twenty years ago) link

broken social scene kinda suXoRs live and are blah but stars are playing with 'em and they are nice!

yeah the rough trade one -- see ya there!

where are the chem bros.?

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:33 (twenty years ago) link

Chemical Bros

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:34 (twenty years ago) link

I'm not "skipping" anything, I've got a full fucking dance card that night and it's ridiculous to expect me to make five events.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 18:51 (twenty years ago) link

Oooh STARS! I love Stars. I don't have a badge and need to go to some of the day panels. Someone want to loan me a badge for the early afternoons plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:03 (twenty years ago) link

I LOVE Stars too! But they're playing in LA next month...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:19 (twenty years ago) link

i have two copies of their new album. whoever wants em, they're yrs. (i HATE stars!)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:25 (twenty years ago) link

I want one!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:28 (twenty years ago) link

I have decided I hate music. So I think we should just all go to that diner and get disco fries.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:35 (twenty years ago) link

We'll do that on Friday?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:37 (twenty years ago) link

Haha this entire thread:

Hey Spencer! Do you want to come do piles of things you could easily do in LA, in fact probably the very next week, that involve none of us really being able to hold much of a conversation with each other? Yay!

Sorry. It's just funny.

Coral Room looks awesome the more I think about it but will it make it difficult for the people going to gigs to show? DO WE EVEN CARE SINCE THEY ARE IGNORING OUR PLEAS FOR SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT MIGHT FACILITATE THEIR ARRIVAL AT OUR PARTY?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:42 (twenty years ago) link

the disc is yrs, spencer. re what to do -- it's totally up to you folks! i really hope i can stop by. plan whatever and i'll adjust my plans (hopefully) accordingly.

(i was so happy at the first fap i went to cuz NOBODY (that i was talking to anyway) talked about music. is there a duller thing to talk about???)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:49 (twenty years ago) link

Yes and the answer is Momus

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 19:59 (twenty years ago) link

Shecky's on Coral: "If you're overweight, underpaid, modestly dressed, or unwilling to beg hard enough to gain entrance (and pay a $15 cover), these door dudes will let you know."

It sounds fun as hell otherwise but bad news for a big group of people. Has anyone been there? Is the door really that rough?

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:00 (twenty years ago) link

I'm not going to any shows, though I would be into dancing.

espcecially if it's like THIS!
http://bitchcakes.topcities.com/garethfap/tomgareth.jpg

I want to meet ilxorz and have drinks and discussions with them, preferably in a festive atmosphere!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:01 (twenty years ago) link

Tom, I think you simply must teach Mr. Chow the kahuka.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:02 (twenty years ago) link

Oh and I didn't read that part of Coral, I didn't know about all what you just said, bnw, so now I've decided it is out. Not that our crew couldn't totally slay the doorman on looks, come to think of it?

What about The Hole? I have never actually been there? Will there be DANCING or will we have to eventually end up at Lit and/or Potion?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:05 (twenty years ago) link

If we wind up downstairs at Lit again can I actually murder someone this time?

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:10 (twenty years ago) link

No.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 21 October 2003 20:11 (twenty years ago) link

We probably shouldn't go back there then.
